I was apprehensive like everyone. But there was a clear lack of options. Kingsley being the main competitor who was my preferred but then again he hadn’t coached a team before.

After hearing Voss speak I think he will be good. Speaks very well.

Got Brisbane job with no experience, is better for it and will have learned since then.

If you take away the Brisbane experience, everyone would be like he’s a coach in waiting. Champion player and leader.

He also clearly hungry to coach. He could taken the easy option and gone media path but always had a desire to coach again.

Brian cook signed off on it after extensively interviewing him. He can hopefully mould him like he did bomber and Chris Scott.

Get some good assistants around Voss and I’m good with it.

Coming round to the Voss era.

You erase Brisbane and he’s the top assistant candidate base on playing career and who he is as a person.

After all this speculation just happy we finally have a coach, hopefully we get the best available assistants and create a strong coaching panel. Good luck to Vossy, hopefully takes the opportunity with both hands.

The main part of me is just glad to have signed A coach up. Now we can move on.

Acquire Cerra and Hewett in the off season.

Get the boys humming together again.

Hit the ground running in the season.

And please, no injuries.

We're as young as we've ever been, and we should be as hungry as we've ever been.

Let's go.

Surprised we went with the people person over the strategy guy. Arguably it would be easier to get assistants the other way- see demons with Williams. Now we have to rely on good line coaches effectively running game day. Onwards and upwards though!

Deflated ...

It is one's reaction to adversity, not the adversity itself, that determines how their life story will develop.” Dieter Uchtdorf.

Love the fact Voss has experienced the highest of successes and the lowest of failures. As dual premiership coach Malcolm Blight stated today, it will make Voss an infinitely better leader & coach.

Let's get behind him.

TheRedPill called Scarlett on Saturday. Looks like he'll be the next domino to fall. Hoping Lappin is the next. Having guys who are great at what they do and have strong relationships with the head coach next to them will do wonders for us. Teague never really had that, so hopefully it gives Vossy a greater chance to succeed.

EDIT: ah well, was a nice thought. Scarlett taking the Clarko route. All the best to him.

Isn't that why you let the coach pick their support crew?

How do they know if the newly appointed head coach will get along with the staff they are bringing in? How do they know if their footballing philosophies synch?

Bold of you to assume we'd do anything properly here at Carlton

Still can’t warm to the appointment of Voss.

However, I got it completely wrong with Teague. Carrying on that it would be a club-destroying decision if we didn’t appoint him after the momentum he’d built during his stint as caretaker, relationship with the players etc.

Nothing we can do now but support Voss and hope he is the man to unlock the enormous potential in this playing group.

You’d better get a heater.

One thing I will say is there is an obvious difference in the way Voss speaks and his perceived mannerisms in comparison to a seemingly more laid back Teague. Voss very much strikes me as a hit you between the eyes when he speaks to you almost an imposing presence.

Teague always appeared to act like a dorky uncle to me. In hindsight he really Bradbury'd himself into the senior coach role. Wish him well at Tiges I guess.

Voss will not take any shit and knows how to build strong relationships based on respect.

Forget Scarlett :'(

Matthew Scarlett has informed the club that he is stepping away from coaching.

“It has been an incredible journey, much more than I could ever have hoped for when I joined the club,” Scarlett said.
“I have enjoyed coaching, but the time is right to take a break'.

Very disappointed with the outcome, given the experienced coaches on the market. Would have hoped to do better than settle for next best.
Good luck to Voss - let’s hope he gets the support to succeed.

Which experienced coaches were "on the market"?

Clarko - "I'm not coaching in 2022"
Lyon - "I'm not interviewing for jobs, appoint me or I'm not interested"
Scott - "I'm taking up a cushy admin role at AFL HQ"
Pyke - "Staying in Sydney and don't want a senior role"

Missed anyone?
