Not really relevant.

Not often you see a player move clubs solely to play under a particular coach. There are plenty of other factors that they consider - opportunity, position, location, money, length of contract, chances of success. Recruiting a player just because they like the coach is fraught with issues anyway (see Gov).
That's not what I was getting at. Your other points are obvious but what I was asking was about high-quality talent where having Voss as a coach would make them choose Carlton over another team.

You're really not happy are you, bud? My advice - take a break and come back when you're a little less testy. Coming across as trying to pick a fight when we're all in a good mood.

Cook had final say on Voss and would have had more if he were here earlier. Appointments of key people would definitely be under his purview. Not that we've given him carte blanche but we've head-hunted him for a very good reason and knows better than just about anyone in the industry how to build a successful team (off field) and culture.

I'm not testy in the slightest. I can discuss these matters very pragmatically without getting all emotional.

We didn't head hunt Voss, he wasn't our preferred choice, he's what was left over.

So you're creating a narrative that didn't exist.

But what's his actual football game plan?

Does anyone have any idea what kind of football he wants to play?

Probably the winning kind?

Why would I know, I don't have his phone number.

Robert Harvey has joined Hawthorn. Was hoping we would land him as an assistant

Imagine if they didn't ask/investigate this during the interviews lmao

I’m concerned about how Voss will relate to our current assistant coaches…

I meant Cook was head-hunted. Voss was our chosen candidate from those available - with some promising future coaches in there.

We get it, you don't rate the call. Admirable that you haven't flipped to support him so quickly like many others, but your pessimism and negative attitudes towards him will wear thin pretty quick.

I for one am (again) filled with a(nother) renewed sense of optimism. Think Vossy will be great for our group, and I'm very intrigued to see which assistants we grab.

Thats not the point, you want a balanced argument you can't latch on to the bits you want and ignore the others.

Besides wrt Bolton it depends on which players you ask. Teague there are very few and not at the end of his tenure really.

Voss at the end of his tenure is still being spoken about as a great influence and coach. just a tad different yeah?

Or you can keep picking small things here and there to try to feed the clear distaste you have for Voss. I suggest you just take some time and look forward to footy season starting again in a few months. Maybe get excited by the potential assistants and trade period coming up?

Or I can ask questions about what does he bring to the table in terms of game plan and tactical nous.

Were they speaking about that at the end of his tenure? Or is it another "he's a good bloke" appointment?

That you think that asking about game plan and tactics are picking small things kinda suggests you're more about personality than actually winning.

1. AC wasn't interested in coaching this year, we're not going to wait around for a decision that isn't coming.
2. RTB pulled out because he sooked it up when asked to go through a process.
3. Between Kingsley / Voss, Voss was chosen due to his previous experience as both head and assistant coach.

"So you're creating a narrative that didn't exist"

Am I?

You think we didn't touch base with the likes of Pyke, Buckley, Scott etc before we even got to the Voss and Kingsley types of the coaching pool?

so the selection panel forgot to ask voss about his game plan and desired game style? Yikes, glad you could pass that on.

No PP necessary.

However the only thing people seem to say about him is "he builds good relationships". Which is fine, but that doesn't help you when you're up against coaches who are tactically very good at producing game plans and getting teams to execute them.

What is he credited with at Port football wise for implementing?

You do hear of assistant coaches who are credited with such things, so Voss?

I was interested to read this from a Port fan from their perspective...

Thus I ask what does he bring football strategy and tactics wise?
Leaked by Diesel. Looks pretty good to me top 4 is a given!!

* Sitting in interview room Nervously sweating* - I hope they don't ask me about game plan I don't have anything prepared

"Well Michael, we have all we need"

*Woohoo*

what finally swung it in Voss's favour was the fact his presentation also detailed a "Plan B". Club was blown away.
They'd only heard such things in legends of old

Why are you asking these questions here? No one here knows. Pick up the phone and call up Sayers, Cook or Voss the Boss himself.

Your circular argument is boring.

I bet you would have heard that about Bolton and Teague too from players.

Who cares what a fan thinks.

You'll always find fans that hate him and others that love him. It's just an opinion.

He obviously impressed the panel and Cook which I'd take over any fans opionion.

Clarkson isn't ready to coach again. Lyon not prepared to do what it takes.
none other senior coaches wanted it.
Of all the applicants he was deemed to be the best.

Not sure what you are worried about. We can't change it.

Let's give him a chance.
