Just on the strategic side of the role - I'll refer to Sayers' words from the presser: “Michael demonstrated a strong understanding of the key fundamental requirements for Carlton right now: Inspirational and accountable leadership, driver of a united and ambitious culture, builder of trusting and collaborative relationships and a deep and genuine desire to deliver strong on-field performance."

While your key priority for our head coach may be game plan (which is an obvious side lacking from our previous coaching team), the above were more important to the people deciding. People who I trust to make better decisions than I would (or you would, Bostonian and the others against the appointment).

Key now will be to get a few clever coaches with strong footy nous and ideas to help make sure that whatever our 2022 game plan is... will be strong.

FWIW Vossy did mention that his priorities will be to have a plan and 'brand' focused around team defence. From where we've come from, that's good enough for me right now.

Who cares what a fan thinks.

You'll always find fans that hate him and others that love him. It's just an opinion.

He obviously impressed the panel and Cook which I'd take over any fans opionion.

Clarkson isn't ready to coach again. Lyon not prepared to do what it takes.
none other senior coaches wanted it.
Of all the applicants he was deemed to be the best.

Not sure what you are worried about. We can't change it.

Let's give him a chance.

We land plan G coaching option and there's nothing at all, not one single thing we should be worried about? :tearsofjoy:

A couple of things.

Punch your mate in the face... hard
Punch yourself in the face for not punching him in the face earlier.
Don't embarrass yourself like this by brining it here.

Even if Walsh was to leave, why Dogs? If there is one part of the field the Dogs have covered twice over is their midfield.

Woah woah woah, this is a board where I bring things up I have been asked/told. I'm not an "ITK" but thought I'd share.

I'll remember to not share anything in future.

For the record, if you read my post in full, I state that I don't believe it.

I'm not testy in the slightest. I can discuss these matters very pragmatically without getting all emotional.

We didn't head hunt Voss, he wasn't our preferred choice, he's what was left over.

So you're creating a narrative that didn't exist.

We headhunted Clarko, he said he was taking a year off - then Voss got the job over everyone else who interviewed. What's your beef with that?

People are very touchy about rumours in the rumour thread.

"Hey guys I heard this, I doubt it but have you heard anything" is an extremely appropriate post in a thread about rumours.

Don't be bothered by everyone else.

Not everyone here feels the need for the endless negativity you bring. Most of us are open-minded, excited and supportive. It's as though you think it's your role to eternally run the club, its admin and players down.

I really don’t get the sh*t canning of Voss…..Bolton and Teague were less credentialed than Voss yet everyone was quick to support them !!
I’d rather have Michael Voss before Clarkson anyway…..
At least this bloke wants to coach our team…..even after being rejected previously !!!
Good luck Vossy…..look forward to you fixing up Crippa just like Ollie Wines

Mate, you know full well it was bullshit from the beginning. Your mate......

He should just bring us Ollie Wines.

Edit:
I just thought of it and it's not worth a new post.

Voss - Cook, I want Ollie Wines
Cook - We have Ollie Wines at home

Very common in business recruitment to focus on those areas - because organisations believe effective leadership trumps strong technical skills in driving outcomes.
This is often why the best players don't succeed as coaches. Just because they kick and handball well doesn't mean they can manage relationships to drive performance.
I agree, I'm not that concerned about Voss' ability to form an amazing game plan but if he can instill the right attitude and ethos and he's given assistants who do have strong tactical and game traits, that could work.

Bos,

I'll leave the worrying to you :)

I'm more than happy with the way we have gone about it since Sayers took over.
Great appointments in Williams and Cook now Voss.

No leaks coming out of the club and half the crap written about us is media opinion.
The club did exactly what they said they would do.
They had a review, looked at the finding/recommendations then implement a strategy and plan to hire new staff.

I'm optimistic about next year. You should be too mate.

Reads like a PR spiel for a business school mentorship program more than a football club.

The key requirements are to win football games and finals.

That's what fans want. Not waffle filled with buzzwords.

Your previous posts rave about Cook. Why don't you trust Cook now?

I wonder how many of those requirements came out of the footy dept review.

The " driver of a united and ambitious culture, builder of trusting and collaborative relationships" bit is really interesting...

If we'd landed a Lyon or Pyke i'd have been plonking $500 on us for top 4. That's how optimistic i'd have been.

Will be keeping my money in my pocket with this appointment.

Did you watch the press conference at all? Was the most honest and authentic Blues press conference I've watched in a long time. Vossy confirmed that this was one of his key priorities, as has Sayers in multiple of his appearances now.

Also, now you've got a problem with the way they summarised their job requirements/priorities? Geez.

I hope you're doing okay, man. Not sure what's going on offline for you, but if you want to chat about things other than the club - shoot me a PM.

Not at all. I'm not one of those people who pull out the "you're not a real fan" crap.

What you think wins games could be very different to what I think wins games.

You can be over the moon, I can be highly skeptical.
Melbourne fans were not happy 12 months ago....................................

They obviously didn't want to coach us otherwise they would have applied and gone through the process.
