there is that......But I do hate you and hope your lawn dies.
Kemp seems lost and mostly underperforms at VFL level...Kemp doesn't have a position, he has multiple ones, he's played medium defender and medium forward.
IMO Kemp needs to get fitter, a lot fitter and play as an onballer who goes forward. That's how I think we should be developing him. We just need to bring out his offensive game a bit more and try and turn him into a bit more of a damaging player.

Think he's one of those players who (like Motlop), plays better at AFL level...
Thought he was pretty good as a defender in those 4 games he played this year and was stiff to get dropped...
Think he's best suited to be a dependable 3rd tall defender, which could allow McGovern to go back as the 3rd tall forward...
Plus if needed they both can play at either end...
Kemp has struggled as a forward at VFL level and it's a pipe dream to think he's a tall midfielder...
Has no exposure at AFL level in the midfield and who would he replace?
He'd be behind Dow and Fogarty in the pecking order, he'd never get another game with us...
For a permanent best 22 position, its likely 3rd tall defender or bust...
Yes, he played ok that day...I watched Kemp in the reserves final against Collingwood i think it was ?,
He played forward with plenty of presence, pretty much dominated and could’ve finished with 6 goals with his kicking boots on.
Start him up forward, with the opposition putting all their time into H and Charlie, he’ll find a bit of time and space and do a bit of damage …
Kemp is certainly not a midfielder.Yes, he played ok that day...
But, it's 1 game at VFL level against a VFL level defender...
At AFL level he's looked good as a defender...
Played a large part of his juniors there, is comfortable there, not sure why we would change that...
It's just another Weitering experiment mark II....
Still think he's best chance at a permanent best 22 position, is 3rd tall defender or bust...
He'd be behind Curnow, JSOS, Martin, McGovern, TDK as a tall forward

Our list is good, it's really good and with some good recruiting at the draft and in coming seasons it could really take off.
IMO we should be one of the teams not just playing finals but as a serious premiership contender. Looking at our best 22 and our depth we are very strong in almost all positions now. Perhaps a little week on one wing question perhaps not super strong up forward but really there's not too much weakness.
A few things we need to get right though are our fitness and depth which are tracking right. Depth looks ok now, was pushed hard last year and did ok but those younger age players should be coming on and now contribute to our depth. Fitness wise, everyone is on track for the start of preseason, at least that's what the injury reports at the end of the season suggested so so far so good.
The game plan is the other part. Blame injuries all you like, game plan is why we missed finals last year. We failed to have a plan b to fall back on, most teams have a more pressure orientated game plan to fall back on. You use it to slow the game down, to regain control, when you're getting beaten or when your team's not playing with the right intensity or competitiveness. We had one game plan and it was the wrong one to have if you are going to have one game plan. We also failed to react and adjust to opposition tactics. Better tactics and better onfield leadership and decision making will go a long way for us.
You can make finals with a heap of injuries, you can make top 4 with a few injuries, you can make finals and go ok with mediocre tactics and game plan but you need it all to click together to win it.
It's a really good list. Keep it fit and get our game plans right and we challenge for the flag.

A good post Wickzki. The other thing I’d ask is, how many teams with a new coach and one off-season have a Plan B? It might be achievable in a side where a long-standing coach has left and there is just a need to tinker with the game plan. But in our case, Voss (and the new assistants) were effectively engaging in open heart surgery. Voss was clear at the beginning of the season that we would need to add layers to the game plan.Good post.
I've posted this before but I believe it's a worthy counter argument to your post.
Injuries played a significant part in the lack of a plan B and lack of layers in the game plan this year.
It's almost impossible to add layers to a game plan when you have so many vital members of the team out simultaneously and then when one comes back another goes out.
Show me a team who has survived and thrived despite a spate of injuries and I'll show you a team who has developed the continuity and consistency of a developed team where the players taking care of roles of injured players have been well drilled into meeting consistent expectations.

Not sure he has the kicking boots in the kit bag..
edit. If they're all fit and showing form, then Martin and Cunners as medium forwards and Gov, Kemp as versatile 3rd talls.(fwd/def.) for me.Kemp is certainly not a midfielder.
I think Martin is more in competition with Fish, Cunners and Honey for a place in the 22.
Third tall's, Kemp, Gov, Marchy, JSOS and Plow are all coincidentally out of contract at the end of 2023.
We'll trade/delist at least 2 of these.
Nothing personal...still reckon we could use an emoji that represented disagreement other than the red thumb of death which tends to suggest I hate you and hope your lawn dies
it was the clutchest of clutch shots............
archive please?
Looks a third tall forward to me pushing to a wing and back has pace and composure for the role.Full preseason and what did Charlie say during covid “he’s a gun”I watched Kemp in the reserves final against Collingwood i think it was ?,
