So what are Geelong fans thinking would be a fair trade. The 1st round pick will not be enough so a sweetener will be needed.
Why a sweetener?
A first round pick for a B grade midfielder is more than enough - Port will be laughing all the way to the draft.
And North will most likely finish below Geelong, and could potentially offer their 1st round pick, beating Geelong's offer.Doubt they would take pick 16-20

So Port are going to win next years flag?Worked out alright for them the last time they did it. Geelong would have to produce the goods.
Good. Go Boaky and have fantastic career at a fantastic, strong football club. I wish you well. We can't offer you want you want at Port.
To Port Power,
Don't you dare let Boaky off without getting what you/we deserve for him. He was a top ten draft pick (let's not talk about who was one pick after Travis) and the trade needs to be of supremely high quality. You list should be as follows.
1. Mitch Duncan and a late pick
2. Allan Christenson and a mid pick
3. George Horlin-Smith and a mid pick
4. Cameron Guthrie and a mid pick and a rookie pick
5. Daniel Menzel and a mid pick and a rookie pick
Do not settle for anything less than one of these players - he is worth this. The time is now where Port can make a stance around Boaky's future, either you get want you want or Geelong don't get what they want - remember Nick Stevens?
Anyone of these players can be a 10 year player and a future superstar for Port Power if you can make it happen. Play hard ball because if you don't supporters (such as myself) will be more disorientated with the direction of the club that we already are.

So he is worth the equivalent of Prismall? Yeah nah. Boak is not a B grader he is an A grader not elite like Selwood but certainly the equivalent of Kelly or Corey at a similar age. As much as we like to rate our own players he is better than Duncan and Bundy at their relevant stages of their career. Why a sweetener?

wont happen, if port ask for any of those trades and are not prepared to negotiate we will pass on boakGood. Go Boaky and have fantastic career at a fantastic, strong football club. I wish you well. We can't offer you want you want at Port.

Why shouldn't you give up something good to get the player your club needs?wont happen, if port ask for any of those trades and are not prepared to negotiate we will pass on boak
No different to Port taking Wanganeen who went home.Perhaps because he has more moral fibre than Chris "Visy Ambassador" Judd and a club that thought it could buy its way to a premiership, so he feels a sense of loyalty to help Port Adelaide fight its way back?
IIRC, the Cats tried to trade Menzel for Boak last year.

You're right to want to hold onto your good players, but a lot of these players aren't better than Boak. The Port player hasn't had the luxury of playing with a side as good as Geelong. You would have been called nuts if you had knocked back signing Boak by trading the pick used to draft Guthrie, Duncan or Christensen. Good young players, but some of these trades are on par with a Carlton supporter saying no to trading Lucas for a better footballer.
Carlton and other clubs will be interested to keep the Cats honest. The price will go up once other clubs offer their first pick and a good player.

You have to hate a superstar choosing to go home and play for a bottom two club instead of a top eight side like Boak.

Whats he on? $2mil/year at GCS?
GAB Jr will be 29 at the start of next season.
P Dangerfield will be 23 start of next season.
R Sloane will be 23 at start of next season.
S Thomson will be 30 at start of next season.
B Crouch will be 19 at start of next season. (look him up, expected to be as good as dangerfield)
we can have all 4 of those players and still get change from 2 mill a year.
richmond will have pick 7 or so, straight swap?
