Well Dinosaur, it has been going on since the beginning of time. Here's Fletch and co., also in Ibiza. Just goes to show how hard the boys are trying to emulate the Bombers of old. 😑
intresting. Not sure when this was or if Fletcher et al. went after the season? my beef wasn’t that they were going to Ibiza. It’s that they are doing it during the footy season, especially in light of their putrid efforts towards the end of the year.

During the Sydney games which began around September / October, so after the 2000 premiership.

I must admit, I wondered last night if they were watching on a TV somewhere. Brisbane's forward pressure in the second half was immense and won them the game. I hope they saw that.

Just on the trip, is it true that they are all going because Smith planned his wedding over there?

If true, the middle of AFL finals does seem to be a very odd time to plan a wedding for an AFL footballer. I’m guessing it was done after he retired and we were no longer a chance of making finals but still, it’s just very odd to me.

Caro on FC saying they staff are a bit annoyed at the line of questioning from the external review. Said particularly the assistant coaches.

Lloyd saying he’s spoken to past players that have been asked questions. They’re happy that the club is taking action and have apparently said the questioning is confronting and tough. And people are feeling drained after it. Seems pretty thorough.

At least we know they are asking questions then

What on earth kind of questions would be regarded as confronting and tough though, aside from why why why like a 2 year old?

Review staff: Please spell the word "defence".
Player A: Can you please use it in a sentence?
Review staff: To minimise the opposition score, each player should run back to assist with team defence when they possess the ball.
Player A: J-O-G-A-N-D-P-O-I-N-T
Review staff scribbles notes

(Later in the Gym)

Player A: Oh my god this review is confronting, the questions don't even make sense! They're using words I've never heard of!
Player B shakes head then calls his manager

Could be tough being asked to comment on stuff they weren't privy to because half the place has piss bolted.

Plus I imagine the whole thing would be like being hauled into HR. Probably feels like a little internal club court case or something. Would be annoying AF having some overpaid clueless slick turd who couldn't GAF probing away at you like they are Perry Mason. Meanwhile you'd like to be having some downtime not pandering to some review thats already achieved its purpose. Annoying could contribute to draining. Anyway these would be my guesses.

Imagine it'd be along the lines of

Being an employee of a place subject to review is rarely fun. Anxiety is high and uncertainty reigns; it does bring out some defensiveness. It doesn’t mean, though, that the review is being done badly or anything. In fact it means the kiddie gloves are off.

The other thing to keep in mind is that Caro and her highly-esteemed media friends will latch onto anything for a sound bite. All it would take is for a friend of an assistant to say to her “not sure Gia is enjoying all the extra meetings atm” and all of a sudden she’s spouting dramatics on FC.

“I‘ve had some people say to me, and that’s a player or two at the club, that they’ve loved it because it has been a brutal questioning,” the three-time Coleman medallist told Footy Classified.

This is part of our problem. Why are players talking to Lloyd ? You do not hear Gary Lyon brining up issues from Melbourne players but for some reason we seem to have players talking to Lloyd who is in the media . Just another way to destabilize the club via "Essendon people " outside of the board. The flow on is then you get Kane Cornes commenting that Rutten has 100% lost part of the playing list.
Typical Essendon.

Has Lloyd had much / anything to do with any currently listed player?

I don't think his playing career has crossed over with anyone other than Hurley, and I can't imagine many of the younger guys having anything to do with him unless it was via school football - is he still doing that?
He is but he does not need any cross over from the playing group. He just has to know the coterie members who help the players out with off field opportunities. Trust me. He has been talking to some players.
