Browne appartnely reporting Andrew Thorburn is the favorite for CEO now.

Interesting choice, caught up hard in the banking RC,....is on how external review team...
Or in other words Tom Browne has no idea and the only person he has seen at the hangar with any CEO experience is him

Last time I remember checking in:

1. Coach no one listens to gone.

2. CEO who has botched every appointment gone.

3. Board members who were part of the suicide pact gone.

Now:

4. We have a very safe pair of hands, proven coach whose teams have largely been our polar opposit, and 3 days with said coach to start throwing around about 7 million in salary cap space before trade period formally commences.

5. External review has been upsetting staff.

As I've said before, change is always ugly - the politics makes that inevitable. Circumstances made anything clean impossible. Dont judge change for the reality that it was messy, judge it for where it ends up.

Apart from the weird press conference before Rutten was sacked, I’m not sure Barham has done much wrong.

The Rutten sacking wasn't a high point.

I'm happy with the coach appointment, and the fact there's no leaks at the minute, so we'll see where he takes it from here. Looks like he wants to make the right sort of changes.

Ah here we go, Barham speaking words that make sense in an order that makes sense.

Sheedy had his say in the board meeting yesterday, he's an important part of the club and will be behind Brad the same as he's been behind all the coaches.

Also said that McKinnis made a huge contribution and was really impressive, which is interesting. I wish we could know more about that given her background is in netball, so it'd have to be around transferable skills and stuff I guess?

Barham! Marginally less old and decrepit.

I suspect good coaching is good coaching across all sports, she might not be able to actually go out and coach AFL specifically but I'd think someone with her resume as a coach - Craig Bellamy would be another - can identify what traits a good coach needs to have.

Yep. Whereas the other people on the board are probably looking for goodness of fit and some of the sport/league/club specific stuff... list, tactics, strategy, and also things like handling coteries and board members and such.

I wonder how many of these panel members might be put up for some other roles at the club or if they'll go back to what they were doing.

Yeah not cool by Sheeds if he came out and said how he voted. I know Barham needs to keep him close but you also can’t have that crap on the board. I hope the rest of them sit around the table and tell him never to do it again.

* this old muppet off

This is part of the reason I was uncomfortable with Hird; not that I don't think he couldn't have won over the panel; not that I don't think Hird isn't capable of turning us around. But prior connections still at the club Hird may be loyal too (or them loyal to Hird) SHeeds, Dodoro I wonder how much Hirdy could put them in their place; where as I don't think Brad had that issue; I think Hirdy is capable of it too if he didn't have that loyalty (I remember the drunk Fev brownlow Hird was probably one of the very few that didn't play along or ignore it and let Fev get away with it (not aggressive abouit it but Fev knew where he stoood)

Some outside experience may have helped with the above too

I cannot tell you how happy I am the Hird did not become coach.

May it be a sign we have exited our ten year era of doing the most stupid s**t possible.
That was a pretty cracking presser, Brad. Think you covered over any small bits of lingering doubt I had.
