I get the distinct feeling that the coterie and old boys network may be realising the potentially-scathing outcome of this external review, paired with a brawler of a President and a coach who gives literally zero shits about them means their influence is under threat.

So what do they do? Mobilise the old boys puppet of a president that buried the last scathing external review, and prepare for a board coup.
100% this.

Hopefully they get the sentiment across the majority of fans & ex-players and stay the f**k away from the club they f****d up

We should get to vote on the coteries

I vote for cannons aimed at the sun.

Has Little said whether he’d implement the recommendations of the external review?
He's too busy pissing in Sheedy's ear ...

This is completely unacceptable from Little. His last captains pick was Worsfold ... This cannot be allowed to transpire. The only comfort I gain from this that if Little is the figurehead these clowns are attempting to prop up then they must be a bunch of absolute pissants.

2 Presidents and 3 CEOs in the space of 3 months is shambolic but 3 Presidents and 3 CEOs is actually almost mind-bending, particularly for the hoops they have to jump through to even get to that point.

I'd hope the structure of the board is ripped to shreds in the review.

Not sure what’s been said, so I’m sure others have said as much already. But you’ve got to respect Barham for what he’s been able to do since he took over from Brasher.

He’s made some mistakes and in hindsight could clearly do things better, but I feel he’s accomplished more in a couple months than any of his predecessors could do in years or even decades. He’s copped a lot of flack publicly but at least he’s had the courage to initiate changes that are well overdue, even if he hasn’t done things perfectly. That’s a lot more than can be said for any of his predecessors in the last 2 decades.

If he can somehow now get rid of Dodoro and Sheedy he will become my new hero.

meh ... we will have a new CEO in <1 mth, and this whole saga will be completely forgotten about by Xmas

The issue is less about sacking him and more about 1) the lack of background DD that Hisgrove and those EY idiots conducted, and 2) then allowing him to interview for the role afterwards. Absolutely mindless. But what's done is done, i'm not fussed we have no CEO at the moment.

There was an urgency in hiring a senior coach to facilitate (limited) opportunities during trade week, list planning and offseason prep, but there is no urgency in hiring a CEO. Let Nick Ryan continue to act in the role and he can use plethora of ppl as sounding boards if needed, including Brad Scott given his intimate knowledge of the AFL administration.

People continue to overlook one important fact - The AFL has to to sign off on every club CEO appointment - So they would have been fully aware of Thorrburn's background which was evident when Gil spoke about Thorburn's resignation.

Mahoney interview on Sportsday. Just the non-trade bits quoted here:

Interviewer: I mentioned before that the off field element at the Bombers has been a distraction, and certainly in the media. On field which is the most important part for fans, do you see it tracking in the right direction? Obviously Brad Scott, but also the news today that the newly created positions of the general manager of performance and head of development: from your role personally how important do you see these new roles being added to the football department?

Well the first thing I get is the board putting their full support behind the football program, putting some additional resources really to support myself and to support Brad Scott as the new senior coach. And yeah I think you can only take that as really positive that it is part of the review that is being spoken about today and there will be more over the next few weeks coming out of that, but that’s really good sign that this is about investment into football.

You know we want to make sure, we haven’t performed anywhere near where we need to as a club for a long period of time now and we’re getting serious about being a good football team.

It takes a lot of different elements to get that right. You need to get the right playing list and being really clear and aligned on where your playing list is at. You have to put the right resources around them in terms of the personnel, and the right resources in terms of the headcount and the type of people there as well.

So really confident that off the back of the review and the recommendations that have come off the back of that added to our playing list, which is a young talented playing list, that are hungry to learn and hungry to get better that will give us a best chance.

The two positions that have been created they will report to you. Head of Development is self-explanatory. General Manager of Performance, that’s a bit of a catch all. What do you see that role as entailing?

Yeah so it’s really a support role for Brad Scott as the senior coach and also for myself, but it’s really about aligning just all the coaching, and high-performance and data and making sure that everything we’re doing we’re doing with purpose and making sure that any little cracks along the way that you got someone looking at that so that can get addressing things pretty quickly.

So someone just looking at our program with a real laser focus on making sure that they are looking at everything we’re doing, that everything we’re doing, every moment that our players are in the hangar, every staff member that’s coming to the hangar that we’re doing it with purpose and that we are maximising the time we have together.

Just before I let you go I mention that there has been a distraction the CEO appointment and the like in the last seven days. For Essendon fans, has Brad Scott and the football department been able to get on with their task at hand without distraction?

We have and obviously it’s in the papers and it’s not a proud moment for the club to be in the papers for the situation we have been, but it hasn’t distracted the football program at all. Our focus has been on the trade period and then working closely with Brad on what the structure looks like moving forward around the coaches and the other staff.

But the players at the moment are away on their break, they are reading the things but as much as we can we are making sure we communicate with them on what is happening within the football program. And the short conversations I’ve had with the players they’re feeling really positive about what’s been happening, they’re feeling really positive about what’s happening in the review, they got spoken to in the review. I think there was 80 interviews they did in total so people feel like they’ve said what they want to say another looking forward to what the reviews gonna show and then the rollout of the back of that.

The imperative needs to come from the ER though, otherwise it will simply appear to be unstable bloody-mindedness. The ER needs to be released so there is transparency.

Fair point. I agree for Sheedy perhaps but for Dodoro they would be well justified removing him without the ER simply on the basis that they’re after a fresh perspective after all these years.

...after the trade/draft period is over. Hopefully his contract stipulates the club's right to intellectual property for any spreadsheets etc. that he has produced working for the club. He has to go. The ER should reveal the problems with the list anyway, which would be grounds for dismissal.

Has Little said whether he’d implement the recommendations of the external review?
Little has indicated that he doesn't feel like EY has any footy credentials, he has run an alternative review using real footy experts, the Herald Sun.
In contrast their recommendations are that there are too many people and roles at the club, so the board will be disbanded and the role of 'president' becomes 'emperor', day to day decisions and running will be done by the new role of Grand Moff Sheedy, all football recruitment and list decisions will be retained by newly renamed Darthdoro, as a coach negotiations are underway to turn Chris Scottwalker to our side. (In a strange turn of affairs it seems that he and his twin were actually the children of Darthdoro all along, and that brad was a princess).

Or so I am hearing.
