interesting comments re: Xav occasionally getting involved in football matters....insinuating that he's overstepped his mark in recent times?
There's a lot of bits like that which raise eyebrows.

It's probably a reference that dates me a bit (and I've been trying not to post it for hours 🤣 ) but this thing reminds me of Umbridge rocking up in the 5th Harry Potter book and everyone falling asleep while she droned on about the Ministry meddling at Hogwarts.

christ, Harry Potter ages you :p i wasn't a kid when i bought the first book as a first edition :p

Good words from Brasher.
Proof comes in the pudding. the next 2 years are big for this club.

I had heard he’s been working his way around the club asking people what it was they did and why? I like this bloke.
The 'and why' is funny. How many people know why they do what they do the way they do it when they're at work?

I feel like a lot of jobs require you to have a degree of cognitive dissonance in order to be effective.

where i work we get drilled into us to have the elevator pitch ready if you're ever in the same lift as the CEO or president, cos they'll ask. :p

I liked that he's looking to move on from the drugs saga and closing that chapter in it's entirety.

Never hurts to have someone ask why do you do that? There are a lot of unwritten ground rules in business.

A question I ask often of both those who work for me and also of my managers. I'm also happy to get that question.

If someone doesn't know why they do something then often it either doesn't need to be done at all or can be done better.

Mmm the fifth book came out when I was still in primary school. I got the first 4 for Christmas when I was about 7.

But yes, time to walk the walk. 2021 starts now.

Pure speculation here, but Xavier is known to be pretty tight with a number of the senior players, especially those around/embroiled during the Saga.

Hypothetically is it far-fetched that some of them went over Woosha's/Truck's head at points if they were confused or didnt like the messaging coming from the coaches in order to raise issues they were having, and effectively undermined the coaches and Richardson in the process?

He was on the board for a fair bit of time so I am sceptical.
i think he Talks a tough game and then says that Daniher and saad need time to think about their future.
i am sorry but Daniher has had a chunk of time.
if he is fair dinkum dodoro will be moved on straight after the draft.
players like hooker, Hurley and Merrett are publicly made to state they are all in or traded.
losing saad to Carlton would be a massive blow.
they won half a game more than us yet Adam feels success is more likely there.
the perception would be they are on the way up and we are spiralling in the other direction.
i would play hard ball with Adam and state we are not trading you to carlton unless it is beneficial for us which is first round pick(with them not splitting the pick)
adam is one of the players at Essendon who are exciting to watch. Only tippa comes close.
it would be good to have a president who had the charisma and clout of Eddie or Jeff but if he is strong in his interactions that would be a start.

Not everyone can be Jenny Mikakos and get away with it.

I was happy with that - first time in a long time I’ve listened to someone from our leadership talk and actually thought “he gets it. “

Yes, only words as many have pointed out.....but when was the last time you heard the right words from our Chairman? No corporate speak, no obfuscation, no pandering to the AFL or its media lackies. He said what we are all thinking and he identified and addressed the things we worry about on this board.

It’s a good start.

not only that, but acknowledge that they are only words.

i was initially sceptical of an internal appointment, but i like this guy.

He's said things that at various points would potentially put Gillon, Xavier and Adrian's noses out of joint, along with any remaining saga players and their loyalists. It's certainly an interesting way to start a tenure.

it's a good first step forward.

I haven't been paying too much attention but that is one person I feel for...something not seen in 100 years, so many moving parts and much out of your control. People like to think ministers have a lot of control but really they rely on so much advice and then 1000s taking action according to plan and in this situation some luck. But look, let's leave that conversation for a different day.

Has there been though? I mean we've cycled through a few different coaches, and lists don't build themselves overnight. Worsfold believed in the list and players (so he says).
No no mate, I'm not going to get sucked in to an argument with you. ;)

But I personally think there has been a disconnect. Woosha is very much a straight bat in public kinda guy.

If anything is going to change it has to start with him. This nice, politically correct version of Essendon isn’t our DNA and he’s shown us today that he knows that.

The AFL will probably respond to any sense of us regaining our self-esteem via the draw - interstate games, 4 day turnarounds, Richmond at the MCG 5 times in one season :). But at this point I feel like it’s better to die on your feet than live on your knees. Let’s end the self-hating and get back to being arrogant, strong, winning Essendon.

We built for 13-15 around Jobe et al, and then we built again for 18-20 around Joe, et al. You can tell by how much mature talent we brought in and that little bump in results in the half minute before calamity struck on each occasion.
