If he really wanted to return to Vic to support his family, he wouldn't have told GWS at the 11th hour when he had been in discussions with Essendon for a month, and also would be open to returning to any Vic club. From what was reported in here, his missus is due in December, its not like it was only last week that he suddenly realised he was going to be having a kid.

We've got absolutely no evidence to establish the fact that Essendon solicited this but you're just going to say we're responsible for screwing it up because... you're a Carlton fan and everything needs to revolve around the Bombers being the villain or the incompetent party.

GWS isn't trading him to any team, not Collingwood or Essendon or anyone else. They want to keep him because they can't replace him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Essendon have normally been pretty good with paying fair value for players coming in right? It's really only been for outgoing players that they are tough to deal with. Seems like their offer has been reasonable again and GWS needing a ready to go replacement is the issue here.

Don't really blame Hill for trying either, given his circumstances he seems pretty desperate.

Nor should we blame GWS for needing a player that sprung a trade request at the last minute after seemingly wanting to re-sign with a year to run on his contract only 6 weeks ago.
