gatto said they ordered the bad thymosin but got the non illegal one and charters could prove it
Yet , allegedly, Gatto pushed Charters away from the club.

Yep follows logically to me :drunk:

''but Mick mate, I can prove Essendon didn't cheat ''

'yeah listen , and I'm not your mate , Jimmy is your mate , now listen don't peddle your story to anyone and you will be looked after'

* may or may not have happened

"Xavier Campbell is understood to have informed the league that demands had been made for money by Wallis as part of the compensation claim but also by Elliott Snr that unless money was paid then they would go to the media with serious allegations."

Wow, that's a straight up criminal act if proven. So is it Elliott's dad that's been blackmailing?
Guess Wally thought everyone else who blackmailed EFC got paid so why shouldn't he get a lick.

I smell the old 'double-reverse switcheroo'.

Find the least likely source of this info, and watch them giggling in the corner.

Essendon now claiming Wallis trying to blackmail them

"Former Essendon premiership player Dean Wallis allegedly made a series of late-night irate and threatening phone calls to senior people within the AFL and Essendon and is now one of the subjects of a blackmail investigation by police.

Wallis, a two-time premiership player, is understood to have called AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan, Essendon chief executive Xavier Campbell and his predecessor, Ian Robson, making serious allegations and threats."

Wallis has messed up by taking this route. He may feel aggrieved and may have a genuine gripe he was a scapegoat but you can't do a ring a round saying if you don't do this I will do this.
This is why we have lawyers, intermediaries like gatto, 3AW rumour file where you can get your message across without incriminating yourself.

"Now"?

Hasn't that always been the position? That implies they've changed their tune expediently. They called the cops in. Tweets from journalists this morning confirmed that's the EFC view.

If this is what's happened it is not good for Wallis at all

Been busy all day first story I seen on it skipped (skimmed) like 10 pages of the thread...

Phone call is one thing, written word another. Wonder whether EFC are prepared to see a court room. They've run like pathetic cowards so far

Well this started out as kind of interesting, in the end it turned into an interview between Mick Gatto and Sam Newman that doesn't reveal anything really.

I think the only thing likely to be acted upon is the blackmail, if charges are laid.

That and I love Miso soup. Miso ramen with the pork chashu on top with a soft boiled egg in it is the best thing you will ever eat. Ever.

And as far as this John Elliot guy is concerned.

Hard to find a good quality image actually.

Being reported now that Xavier Campbell secretly recorded a conversation with Elliott's father where he threatens to "sling mud" at the club. If these recordings are true it makes things very interesting

Bombers boss secretly taped meeting in bid to prove blackmail
Michael Warner, Herald Sun

BOMBERS boss Xavier Campbell secretly taped a cafe meeting with the father of former team manager John Elliott in a bid to prove the club was being blackmailed.

The Herald Sun can reveal Mr Campbell met John Elliott Sr at the Edward Abbott cafe in Napier St, Strathmore, last December to discuss John Elliott Jr’s redundancy after seven years as a club employee.

Mr Elliott Sr allegedly told Mr Campbell he did not believe his son had been offered enough money in his exit package and threatened to “sling a bit of mud, which will stick” unless it were increased.

In a legal letter sent two days later to Mr Elliott Sr, Bombers lawyer Tony Hargreaves declared: “Having listened to the recording, it is my opinion that you have committed the offence of blackmail … You have, among other things, threatened Mr Campbell that unless the club increases the offer to your son, you will speak to journalists with a view to discrediting Mr Campbell and or the club.

“We wish to make Mr Campbell’s position abundantly clear to you.

“Neither he nor the Essendon Football Club will tolerate being blackmailed.”

Mr Hargreaves alleged that in the taped meeting Mr Elliott Sr said words to the effect of:

“I DON’T want to get into mudslinging — I don’t want it on the front page of the paper”;

“IF it gets dirty I will go fullbore. I have a lot of c--t in me”;

“AS you know, a little bit of mud sticks, whether it’s true or not.”

“I AM happy to fight in the gutter, because that is how I have been brought up.”

Allegations against the club are detailed in statements by Mr Elliott Jr and Dean Wallis to an investigator acting on behalf of insurance broker Gallagher Bassett, which was assessing their claims for compensation for stress and anxiety they blamed on the club.

Mr Wallis, a former Dons assistant coach and team services and logistics manager, claims in his statement: “I have been scapegoated in relation to the supplement program, while others at the club have been covering up the use of cocaine, sexual harassment and fraudulent behaviour.”

Each declared: “This statement made by me accurately sets out the evidence which I would be prepared, if necessary, to give in court as a witness ... I make it knowing that, if it is tendered in evidence, I shall be liable to prosecution if I have wilfully stated anything in it which I know to be false or do not believe to true.’’

Gallagher Bassett ruled that the claims did not warrant WorkSafe payouts, but did not pass judgment on the validity of the allegations.

Responding to claims of threats and inappropriate demands, Mr Elliott Jr said on Thursday: “I want it to be very clear that I have only ever sought a reasonable settlement for the termination of my employment by the club and for my WorkCover claim which is now progressed to formal conciliation. I also want it to be made very clear that I have not been paid by the Herald Sun or anyone else.”

Victoria Police confirmed it was investigating “following a report of a blackmail matter, (but) as this investigation is ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further.”

I listened to most radio coverage of this issue this afternoon, and they all avoided what I thought was the juiciest aspect: the hacking of Elliot's email account, and the deletion of all his emails pertaining to the injection regime, and the stealing of invoices from his desk. If only he had his keyboard brushed for fingerprints. This is the fraud he was referring to. I'm going to state the bleeding obvious, and say that this stinks of a cover-up, and it will drag on until the lying f**ks at EFC come clean. And if there's a god in heaven, we'll see Robson put under oath. Snake. Tells a two time premiership player that's he's more red & black than him. WTF. Pencil pushing piece of ...... (fill in the blank).

If they wanted to persuade Charter to testify, they would have got Hird to talk to him. The only reason you get Gatto involved is if you want to shut Charter up. The only reason you pay the Weapon a million bucks, is to shut him up, and the only reason you fire bullets into Dank's house is to shut him up. I kind of wanted this over so the EFC lies would stop. But f**k that. There's certain rats that jumped off that sinking ship who better be held accountable. And don't buy it when the EFC says that they shouldn't be held accountable because all the major players have since moved on. I call bulls**t on that.

And to the commentators who whine that this is dragging on, and 'why can't we just get back to football', and 'why should poor EFC be put through this over and over again', I say you can't read us a story for four years, and then shut the book without reading the final chapter. We read your shi**y articles every day for four years and listen to your dreadful talkback, and then you say, well let's just put that aside and get back to watching footy. No. We gave you good ratings, now give us a resolution.
Good post.

Also, worth remembering that back in 2014 this was posted...and it fits very well with your post.

Please confirm if you actually know the relevant law but I thought that secretly taping a conversation was illegal? And then if the recording would be admissable as evidence in a criminal trial?
In SA it is. Unless it can be proven to be of public interest

From Here

In Queensland, Victoria and WA, if a secret recording is published or shared with anyone else then the person who made the secret recording can face jail time (up to two years) and huge fines.

The only exceptions are if everyone consents, if it is part of legal proceedings or if it is in the public interest or for the protection of your legal rights.

If you are considering making a recording for the purposes of some sort of anticipated or current legal proceeding (such as a family law matter with your ex-spouse, or unfair dismissal proceedings against your employer) you should always seek legal advice first.

Even if it may be legal under the law, the courts may not look favourably upon your actions and it may not always be supportive evidence for your case.

The argument can be made EFC got legal advice

This is going to be fascinating. How will the moral crusaders of the HTB react to what appears to be a straight up clear cut case of extortion.

Will they condemn it with their finely honed moral sensibilities; or will they engage in a cognitive dissonance acrobatic display?

Stay tuned to find out!

Or that it's protection of their legal rights.

I have a lot of c--t in me.....

That sounds pretty badass as a thing to say in a tense moment like the one they were in.

But upon reflection....it's not unlike saying, "I used to f--k guys like you in jail'. Sounds tough, but doesn't bear thinking about.

And injecting players with experimental drugs isn't? Sorry Lance, but these men were made fallguys while everyone else got paid holidays, pay outs and new jobs, or pithy fines (talking about staff here) or still ON staff.
