Don't get pumped over the NAB cup. We won 2 and it did nothing for us.

I must agree that the Bombers forwards are quality (But getting on), Defenders quality (Also getting older). There is no doubt in my mind that essendons fall will come when the retirements of lloyd, lucas, fletcher and Michael occurs.

You won two by playing full strength teams. Essendon has taken a completely different approach. We have played all of our rookies in every game and last week we had 11 players in the team with less than 5 games experience. The team was even more inexperienced against Brisbane. Whilst i agree that one should not get 'pumped' over Essendons NAB cup form i take insult to people that compare it to Carlton as it is nothing alike.

The NAB cup means nothing either way. Carltons last two NAB cup flags resulted in two wooden spoon finishes in the regular season where as Essendons last two NAB cup flags resulted in premierships in the regular season. This clearly shows that it should be regarded as neither a good thing or a bad thing but as Lucas said recently it is better to have a win in the NAB cup than getting flogged by 10 goals.

a flag in this year or next year will be tough to accomplish. eagles and
Geelong are still probably better than us, although eagles losing Judd and Cousins has brough them back a bit. if we finish top 4 anything is possible. we would probably want a flag in the next three years though with Lloydy and Lucas up forward. As I said it looks tough but should we finish top 4 this year we give oursleves the best chance. And look, by next year we wil have improved even more. too much to ask for Knighter to deliver a flag in his first year

Fletcher? Has had no major injuries and based on last year, shows no signs of slowing down any time soon - could be quite a while yet before he hangs them up (reminds me a bit of Tucky in that sense)

Lucas? Again, no signs of slowing down - last year would be up with his very best years. Probably 3 years.

Lloyd? Hasn't been fully fit for a while, but, is the most prolific forward in the game. Barely hitting 30, so I'd say 3 years.

Franklin is going to need more help this year - he can't do it on his own.

Our forward line would rival a lot in the league. Lloyd, Lucas, Davey, Lovett. Guys like Hille, Laycock, Monfries, Welsh, McVeigh all wandering up there during the game and providing genuine marking/crumbing options. I'm not calling it the best, but to write it off as shit is wrong.
