I have just done my total AFL list analysis, and a couple of interesting things came up when looking objectively at the lists.
You guys were decimated with injuries last season, and with a couple of handy additions to the squad, my prediction is you guys will finish 4th - 6th in season 2009. Didn't take Hurley into account (as I don't beleive he's AFL ready yet being a KPP), but if he can cement a spot next season, all the better.:thumbsu: Prismall and gumbelton will play very well and lift the team. Both will be in my supercoach team. Will Prismall be ready by round 1?

I personally thought this was pretty surprising

Not that you guys really care, but other surprises I found were:

West Coast to do better than expected and finish 9th or 10th.
Port Adelaide to be in a similar position to Essendon (4th - 6th)
Fremantle 8th.

Other than those above, no major surprises.

Just though I'd let you know, discuss.

Injuries was the main reason we didnt play finals. losing 9 in a row didnt help either. Im confident we will make the 8 next season.

Nice to see some opposition fans on our board, and it's good to see some positivity.

To answer your question, Prismall will probably miss the first half a dozen games or so. Not the best of options early on but certainly towards the rear end of the season if he's match fit, look to get him in if you're tight in the money department.

I am interested to hear about your reasoning behind Fremantle. But your other predicitons don't seem too bad. I am glad to see you are using a system to make predictions rather than just following what everyone else thinks.

Cheers for that. I agree with you but am gagging myself from declaring that we can finish in a position as high as 4-5th. Just making the 8 is my goal for this year and if that can include a finals win then great but simply making the 8 would keep me content. Been a long time since we played in September for a final and I think 2009 will start a long period of finals play.

The 8 does look good I must admit. Having Davey and Lovett running together...... Can't wait.. I'm also interested in how Freo will finish so high up the ladder.

You're a smart man.:thumbsu:

Top 8 odds are always strange this early, many tipping Freo to be in the 8.
I am not expecting us to win the GF in '09 but a few final games for the boys would be good.

I think Prizza will be back in round 10-12

Couldn't agree more. If we are to make the 8 next year and for example get flogged in our first finals appearance then that's still a plus in my eyes. :thumbsu:

freo being in the top 8 is very strange but people seem to tip freo every year. maybe its the "they're due for a good season" logic.

as for us we could really use some finals experience seeing as we havent been in them since like 03 or 04 or something. even if we go out first game itd be good seeing as most of out players havent played in one. i'm glad we're hearing knights support lloyds goal of making the 8 this year because i was starting to get worried he was so focussed on playing young players that he forgot about competing

C'mon guys, I'm a mad bombers supporter but we are not good enough yet to make the 8 in 2009. We dont have any A grade mid fielders and are not strong enough down back yet. In a couple of years we might be better but without Lloyd, Lucus and Fletcher it will leave a big hole.
I hope the boys prove me wrong but we have drafted too many ****** with our higher picks in the last 10 years and it has cost us dearly.

Go Bombers

How many Geelong supporters genuinely believed that they would win the premiership the following year in Dec 2006?

We dont have any A grade mid fielders

Why did we beat Carlton twice? Because we dominated their supposedly brilliant midfield.

and are not strong enough down back yet.

That will come with increased midfield pressure which I have no doubt that Knights will implement this year.

In a couple of years we might be better but without Lloyd, Lucus and Fletcher it will leave a big hole.

Hence us drafting Hurley, Pears, Gumbleton and Ryder with high picks, and others with lower picks.

Just because we didn't draft the players for instant impact, doesn't mean we drafted the wrong player. And if we'd drafted Palmer, Rich and Selwood, you'd be whinging about our lack of KPP.

Go Bombers

At least we agree on something.;)

We have too many older players you silly sausage.

Doesn't it go something like - our only good player are Lloyd, Lucas and Fletcher and they will retire soon. Lloyd, Lucas and Fletcher aren't any good anymore, but they are the reason we win games, but then they are crap and they will retire, but then they are the rason we win games but......

haha couldnt have said it better myself..

i can understand people saying we wont improve much but to say we are on the decline i just cant understand any logic behind that?

with a huge amount of youth on our list that have been getting more and more game time, a new game plan, not to mention the worst injury run in the clubs history you would think improvement would be the only option...

so either some people dont have any logic or i am missing something
