Boxing Day test. AUS vs WI

Took my 10yo today to his first full day of Test cricket...he loved it! But then again, probably only because Australia were winning.

Aside from the "how shit are these blokes" stuff, I thought it was really sad. A part of cricket heritage is dying before our eyes. This isn't just a group of blokes who have come together who just happen to not give a stuff as individuals. This appears to be a cricket culture that over the course of a few decades has completely run dry. Everything has run out - talent, identity, coaching, money, passion, integrity, leadership, focus, interest, grassroots, pride etc etc etc. Shit teams have come here before, shit teams have hosted here before (Boxing Day 2010 anyone?) but there has always been something to build on. Something. Even if it's a couple of youngsters or a wily captain or some real guidance behind the scenes. These guys have literally nothing to build on. I can only see the West Indies falling further into the abyss from here and given what they've brought to Test cricket for generations, that's not just sad, it's tragic.

A few of the Windies commentators have made the point that the talent and interest at the very grassroots level is still there, but the administration and structure is so woeful that they all just fall by the wayside.

I got the impression it was kind of like basketball in Australia: "everyone" plays it as kids for a bit of fun, but almost nobody goes on with it as a serious sporting option.

The Bravo stonewall continues. I'm not sure it's doing his team a lot of favours, they need some runs.
I don't get them comparing his progress to a guy who has already been bowled trying to hit out.

He can play however he wants with Carlos there really, as he only really has one mode of trying to score quickly. Any runs they get are kind of elementary anyway.

Because he missed it. Humans make mistakes.

Besides, I'd argue that this is such a monumental mismatch that there is no more interest in watching our batsmen belting their mediocre bowlers around than watching than what we're currently seeing.
It seems to be happening more and more these days. Umps just dont trust thier judgement.

Seriously every ball from patto looks like a no ball. Id lay money on another overturn if he picks one up here.

It was a no ball IMO. My issue is that with Patto going as close to the line as he is and nit getting called by the onfield umpire, he'll keep doing. Then, when he gets a wicket theyll review it and potentially call no ball, even the last 5 deliveries were similiar and deemed legal.
