When he fixes his absurd fumbles, and stops getting pushed off the ball like my imaginary sister, he'll be worth more.

Still, we've been saying that about Mitch Brown for years ^

Is she hot?

Physically Sheppard is fine, if you want him to bulk up much more you're in for a disappointment. We aren't Essendon.

The reason we took him instead of Jetta might have something to do with Monkey Brennan been his uncle! I though the posters on here where better informed than this.

you sure you're not thinking of Mcinnes

Shep's uncle is Swampy Marsh, don't think he's related to the Brennan's. You are correct that McInness and Brennan are cousins.

Err... don't you mean Frasers uncle?

Fraser and Brennan are cousins. Not the way me and slim shady are cousins, but real cousins.

we'd be stupid to give up on sheppard now after persisting for so long. we'd look like complete fools if he suddenly came good next season.

Fear of embarrassment if a guy comes good at another club is a very poor reason to retain him.

People on here are way too harsh on him. He's played a grand total of 42 games from constant injuries, indifferent form and not being best 22. FFS Masten was one of the perennial whipping boys at exactly the same point in his career and it wasn't until the 60-70 game mark he started to show the consistency required for a good AFL player. Similarly Scott Selwood.. Brad Ebert.. Most players take time to find their feet.

Paid overs with pick 7 perhaps, dud worth throwing on the discard pile? Don't be so hasty to write him off just yet.

When considering the ample deadwood that surrounds him, it makes little sense to cut a a 22 year old who has had injury interruptions, been played out of position and who has little trade value, yet potentially a fair bit of upside.

The thing is though, he could be the sort of player we lack (aside from an IM). Fast, outside mid with decent skills. The potential is there, it's just a matter of if it all clicks.

McInnes and Sheppard are 1st cousins,
Sheppard's mum's maiden name is Brennan , which could just be a coincidence or that she's related to 'monkey' Brennan, either a sister or cousin. I know 100% there's a family link there.

My point is , he comes from good WA sporting "blood" and was highly rated , so the families close to these 'circles' would of done all they could to ensure their boy got picked up by WCE.
Brad was also a very handy cricketer, but chose Football instead, maybe he's just not up to playing AFL, time will tell, but for now, lets just see where more game time takes him .

I certainly wouldn't endorse the idea of delisting him. That's even more of a waste then what happened with Swiftsa.

Trading him maybe... now THAT's an idea
Why would we trade a former pick seven who we've put four years into for a third round draft pick (which is what we would get)?

True - but if we could somehow get a 2nd round pick I would do it in a heartbeat. I think there will be some very good players available this year.

If we assess that a third round pick is the absolute best we'll ever get out of a bloke, then it doesn't matter what pick we used to get him. Those two things are unrelated or else we're anchoring ourselves to expectations from three years ago that don't have relevance today.

That said, I say hold onto the bloke. He's got upside.

We obviously won't get a second rounder for him.

one of the things that's held back sheppard to this point is the fact that we have been playing deadwood like embley, selwood, cripps, hams, ebert, smith, swift, stevens, etc ahead of him. granted some of them offer things sheppard doesn't, but i definitely feel we should have gotten much more game time into shep than we have.

Needs to have a defined position and just run with it. I can understand we have tried to make him versatile like we did with Masten playing as HHF. Shep says his favorite position is on a wing so maybe we play him and Gaff on the wings and in the off season concentrate on bulking them up slightly and making them a lot stronger.

I feel like weve given Sheppard plenty of games to get to the next level. Selwood and Masten were slow too but I feel showed more.

Why dont we just turn him into a half back or half forward? Right Shep you get 5 or 6 games straight in one position go up 10% or your on the fringes again, he played his best footy probably at half back.

I think this coincides with the fact Rosa has never developed into an onballer.
