I don't know much about him so asking more astute VFL watchers whether or not he could play as a forward? 190+cm's and a big strong unit, could he play as a third tall target? At ~191-192cm he's about the same height and build as a Darling or Stringer type? Guess I'm asking whether or not he's got the ability to be a marking target forward?
Only young and hopefully will develop into a good player.
He does seem to struggle to win his own ball and doesn't read the play all that well yet, so playing him in a set position could work for him. As you say he is the size of Stringer, Darling and bigger than Fasolo. Better to try something like this than watch him fade away.

That's my understanding too, although other clubs could also rookie him before us. Schade is a recent example of the delist/rookie plan going wrong.
No it's not. GC had already used all their available picks before we selected Schade. It's a myth that we 'stole' him from them, started by TG.

One of the water guys was talking to us during the VFL game on Saturday. Sier came up in the conversation, and for what it is worth, this guy was a big rap for him. Thinks that if he gets a good run with injuries he will play senior footy and do well. And, yes, he is an absolute beast for a 19 year old.
Bless the beasts and the children

(Anyobe evenrember that book and/or movie?)

Sier stays on the senior list for mine.

This is not the year to be making deep cuts to the list. We still need to see what this kid can do and we are in desperate need of big bodies around the ball, that can actually use it well.

At worst, one year contract extension.

Remember when everyone was saying how silly GC were for letting him go because he's a good player... Wonder where those posters went
I didn't realise Sier played for the Suns?

I keep reading about his size. Can I ask someone who has seen him play what his foot skills are like and what his speed is like?

Watching our small mids gets knocked out of the contest on Sat really highlighted that we need some big beasts in the middle who can smash packs open. If Sier has the skills and some toe, then you definitely keep him on. Similar size to Josh Kennedy (Sydney) and he took a few years to get going so as long as he has reasonable foot skills I would keep him on.

Speed and foot skills are quite good. The real question mark on him are his footy smarts. No good having great skills, speed and size if you can't read the play and get the ball.

I can see hawthorn or Sydney picking him up and turning him into a star.

You mean THAT poster. Might be wrong but don't remember a great deal of enthusiasm for his pick up at the time, apart from the fact he was dirt cheap.

Speed - Good
Body - Big
Hands - Clean
Kicking - Unknown
Doesn't accumulate
Bad endurance but could be injury related
Seems a bit tentative in contests which he shouldn't because he's a big bloke now and going to be a monster

Watson is another inside mid who took a long time to get going.

We drafted him as a project so delisting or putting him on the rookie list kind of defeats the purpose but I wouldn't be the surprised the way some decisions are being made.

Putting him on the rookie list exactly serves that purposeo_O

Nervous about the rookie list option. Cant we just keep Sier on the senior list? We've kept room on the list before, for players who are not quite ready, or not quite finished.

It wasn't just Schade that we plucked out of the reaching hands of GC, but the rumour was Kirby was to be rookied by Richmond, after his handful of eye catching performances in their VFL team. I cant think how much more angst-ridden this board would have been this year, without Kirby to distract us. Relying on rookying players seems to me a dangerous game...

Very dangerous.

It's quite simple formulae to me.
If club thinks eg Sier is going to be a good senior player (in time) keep him, zero risk policy.
If club thinks maybe he'll be really good, then keep him. He's cheap anyway.
If club thinks he won't make it, chop!
Then they may take rookie option for a depth player.

No point not being patient.

Maybe Sier isn't ready yet. It's disappointing if he can't find the pill. You don't need to be a fully develop man to know where to run, how to run and when to run to put yourself in the right place to get the footy.
