Not even in the emergencies by the by.
Never going to happen.

Coaches had to show Wills he was really unlucky to miss.

Varcoe had to play.

And Daicos and Quaynor on VFL form had to be shown faith and reward.

Agree with this. Sometimes emergency spots are best kept for the hard luck stories, not always just the best players.

I keep reading that he is better at AFL and never does that much at VFL, but last year i kept reading that he was smashing it at VFL before he forced his way in.

I think that he does play an elevated game at AFL, operates more and better in open space etc. But yes, he had some really impressive VFL performances before he got a senior gig, and he hasn't looked quite as likely this season.

The season was well over the halfway mark before he made his first appearance last year, and I've got faith that he can still be a significant factor for us in 2019...but the clock is ticking.

At what stage last year did he force his way in? Around now? Coming from further back this year..

Getting shown some tough love and I don't mind it. No gifted positions in this side, coming back from injury or otherwise

If that makes him think it's too hard at season's end and he wants to go, well so be it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of what he did and what he may do in future, but I trust the decision makers too

We have an emergency list for a reason. The next couple in line are always on the emergency list.
I’ve never felt that’s quite true.
It’s been a bit of a “reward” for effort prize.

Even last GF.
Was Jarryd Blair really in the next best four players?

(Emergencies for GF were: B Reid, C Brown, J Blair, F Appelby)

Not even in the emergencies by the by.

I made the comment last week that his inclusion in the emergencies may well have been because there wasn't anyone else rather than form which reportedly wasn't flash. He apparently had a better game last week but equally the squad has been bolstered by some handy inclusions. Hopefully he plays a ripper game this week.

I'd say that generally two are genuine emergencies, whilst the other two are encouragement awards. If you're not an emergency, you're not first cab off the rank.
