Traded Braydon Preuss [traded with #62 to Melbourne for Tyson]

Makes sense for Melbourne to chase him. Melbourne are very heavily reliant on Gawn, and Pruess plays very similar. If Gawn was to go down then Melbourne would need someone to step right in and take his place within the game plan, especially now their primiorship window is wide open.

Interesting career move by Pruess tho...

He doesn't get around the ground nearly as well as Gawn.

Preuss must be a very, very simple man if he's ignoring clubs with more money to throw around and more opportunity to be a first choice ruck in order to go to Casey.. I mean Melbourne.

Melbourne are obviously going to play both of them at the same time.

I think it's a shrewd pickup by them.

Potentially have plans to play mcdonald as a roaming wing/forward similar to Westhoff.

Surely would be way too tall playing Pruess Hogan and Weideman, maybe preparing for life after Hogan?

Were we supposed to drop our AA ruckman who was having one of his better years?
No Goldy was good this year. He averaged 3.36 marks a game this year in the AFL

Compared to Preuss who averaged 1.35 marks a game in the VFL.

So no you wouldn’t be selecting Preuss over Goldy with stats like that. With stats like that he’d barely push starting selection at any team. No way is he worth more than pick 33, more like a pick in the 40’s 50’s

I reckon their problem is they aren't tall enough.

They were well and truly exposed in this area when Lever & Hogan went down.

Preuss is a solid mark & kick, who would be rarely out-marked bringing Melbourne's ground level forwards in to the match. He matches their list well.

A misleading stat considering opposition sides don't kick to his opponents and he rarely gets forward in the VFL.

They're already a slow club, unless they're planning on bringing in some real speed they're going to regress with Preuss in there as well. You can't have as many sameish slow and contested midfielders as they do and run 2 rucks.

You'd think his teammates would kick it to him if he was strong overhead wouldn't they?

You clearly haven't seen the kicking skills in our VFL list.

I don’t understand why he’d wanna go to Melbourne to be a back up again? He won’t be getting a game with Gawn, Weideman and McDonald all playing.

Why wouldn’t he sign at GWS or Saints and be their #1?

Maybe he's not good enough to be a number 1, are those clubs after him?

pssst..... we are willing to almost give him away, but for God's sake don't tell BF.

I can understand why Melbourne are interested in Preuss, but I can’t for the life of me understand why a young ruckman who has been starved of opportunities would pick Melbourne as his preferred club over one of the half dozen or so clubs that are in real need of a ruck upgrade.

Exactly! Only reason I can think of is that he doesn't actually want to put in the work to play as a full time AFL player. Maybe he's content with his 300k/year playing out at Casey?

Gawn is on record saying prusse was the toughest apponent he has played against

I'd love to see where you've pulled this from.
If true, surely he was just being nice, encouraging a young kid...

Preuss is a brute. Couldn’t see him playing with Gawn too many times. But would be very solid back up. And he’d be learning from the master with Gawn.

Would be surprised if he went to Melbourne to backup Gawn. You would think if the media is right then Melbourne must be selling a spot on it's best 22.

A misleading stat considering opposition sides don't kick to his opponents and he rarely gets forward in the VFL.

So he's lacking fitness or just too slow and he sits behind the play all day like a dinosaur.

You're managing to talk his value further down with each post
