Competent Richmond player?

Are You Kidding Jason Sudeikis GIF by Apple TV+

Think you are right about this. Expecting Freo to be top 4 this year and think he will play a big part in that. Good call imo.

Or he could be another Des Headland and get distracted by all the local influences that previously weren't there, to the detriment of his football.

He could be. You might be right.
You can have your view on him and I'll have mine

Not saying he can't be a gun - he's clearly super talented, and great to watch in full flight.

Just saying going home isn't all it's cracked up to be, in some cases.

Watch this space I guess.

Reckon Paul Curtis can kick 40+ goals next year.
Finished top 10 in the time trial, which would've been unthinkable even 12 months ago.
Kicked 30 this year in a very poor side. And even a 10% improvement in the team's overall performance, will give him more chances inside 50.

George Wardlaw from North Melbourne. It’s time their midfield starts rising, and Wardlaw breaking out would help immensely. He’s heading to his 3rd year, so I think he can do it.

For Richmond, I’ll say Jacob Blight. Won our time trial, so hopefully we see him lock down a role in defence. Would’ve also said Kane McAuliffe, but not sure how our midfield looks with all the changes that happened.

Elijah Hewett. Will be one of the top few from the 2023 draft comfortably if he is all over his foot injuries, and hes started off the pre-season well. Was going to be a top 5 areas pick before his foot injury slowed him down in his draft year.

Ryan Maric the other, he just needs to get settled in a role. He was shoe-horned into a wing role just to find a spot for him in the 22 this year. If he can secure a backline spot he will be elite

Probably Wardlaw for North, he had a spell in the middle of the season where he was in CD's top 10 players for about 5 weeks, then had the bye and a concussion break. If he strings that together for the season he's a 25+ disposal, 5+ clearance, 13+ contested possession mid. Which has him right up there competition wide in those categories.

I think McKercher playing forward of center and through CBA's is very likely to have a Sheezel 2024 type impact, but he's already set an extremely high bar. I think his second year numbers will rival Sheezel/Daicos'

I'll say Mitch Owens. He's shown plenty of talent but I think he's ready to start ripping games apart.

I hope it's SDK. Really good 2022 before having a tough 2023 and first half of 2024. He looked like he'd just started to rediscover his mojo before injury ended his year. It's time to deliver on the promise and become elite.

There have already been a few from us mentioned but I think Ginbey could be really a chance to excel in the backline.
Finished the year well there and will now have 3 preseasons under his belt. Is already a unit and seems more comfortable oh a hbf than full time mid.
Getting Baker alongside him to help out and give him some extra guidance will be a bonus.

As mentioned, Maric is another to look out for along with Hutchinson I think.

Other teams I would say Wardlaw and Cadman have had enough exposure to know what it takes and if they live up to their potential they could make some big strides this year if they stay fit and healthy.

Last year for me the stand out was Waterman for West Coast.
From in and out of the side to All Australian with 50 plus goals.
Who is your pick for this upcoming year?

My possibilities are

Riley Thilthorpe- Of course depending on injuries but he is just a powerhouse and what he could do in the last part of the year with no pre season was huge!

Neil Erasmus- If given the opportunity could become another great cog in the Fremantle midfield. This is probably a real roughie but I could see him taking a big step this year.

Conor McDonald- I’m calling potential All Australian year, he is so damaging when at his best if he can get the consistency his numbers will be undeniable.

Kysiah Pickett- Has the potential to be the best small forward in the game can do things others can’t offensively and defensively.

A breakout year for Pickett would be realising his potential and becoming a midfielder. Small forwards are just failed midfielders. Always have been.

I think defensively he is an amazing player and has been throughout. His efforts in the ruck added even more to his game as well.

Humphries with another pre season if he can start pushing up around the wing, he has McLeod smoothness and use! He could be a star. Zuthrie is a star within but he may receive some outside applause if he keeps his trajectory going!
