Do you think Le Cras or Ph Matera would of been better as midfielders?
Matera no but Le Cras was actually tracking to go into the midfield then had that horrific broken arm that curtailed that.
Did a big pre-season as a mid and had the skill to be very influential there but we never got to see him there properly.
Pretty sure he still holds the record for most goals at Docklands so was a pretty handy forward 😁

McDonald, Watson, Weddle and MacKenzie thrown up by others already, but I’d hope Calsher Dear can back up his stellar debut where he kicked 25 goals and maybe kick 30-35 goals in his second year and a full season.

Players around the 50 game mark are typically the prime candidates.

Burgoyne, Jones, Mead from port could potentially break out.

JHF to announce himself a top 10 player in the comp.

Cam Rayner to go full on beastmode, AA and Norm Smith.
Danster will love it.

As another option I think Lohman really started to take off into finals. Think he is primed to do that for a full year and be one of the best half forwards in the comp

Lecras played midfield all the way until AFL as did phil Matera.
I think he played more as a forward in 06 in the WAFL he was averaging over 2 goals a game. Was listed as a forward in his draft profile in 04 and along with Mitch Morton who ended up a forward was probably playing a little of both at the same time but more forward than midfield, both were selected by the eagles in the same year.

This guy is a little overlooked for how good he was last year had some enormous games.
I don’t think people realise either that Wilson brained the comp in terms of distance covered at high speed in games last season.

He covered 4.2km or more at high speed in 9 games (best was 4.6km) and I’ve looked at the tracking numbers for all the games in the first 16 or so rounds, and about a dozen in the latter rounds, and only one other player covered 4km in a game in all those games I checked, and that was Ollie Hollands, with a 4.2km game.

Darcy did that or better 9 times!

The next best I remember seeing anyone else do was a 3.8km game.

Darcy also covered the most total distance of anyone in his games on 9 occasions.

To be braining the comp like that off 1 AFL preseason is remarkable.

If Wardlaw has a good preseason and gets through unscathed I'd put his name up.

Fitness and tank needs a bit of improving but I think he's on the cusp of being a consistent B grade pushing A grade midfielder. Will be in the top handful of players when he hits his absolute prime.

Shame your home ground is a postage stamp, he'd be more suited to the G. Ditto Brad Hill and Liam Henry

Yeah our gameplan basically involves getting our runners to spread to the furthest reaches of the ground when moving forward, because we know the other team most likely won’t be able to keep up with them, and also presumably because it opens up the corridor more, so we’re definitely best suited to big wide grounds like the MCG.

The last places we want to play are super-narrow grounds like GMHBA and Norwood (where we played last season and play again next year).

Hill beat Wilson in our time trial in January, but Darcy left him in his wake on Monday (won by about 100m apparently), so it will be fascinating to see his tracking numbers next year.

I like this by a tigers supporter! Cherish the good moments and wish him well.
Mate, I've put a cheeky 10 on him for the brownlow. I just can't see any reason apart from laziness that he isn't able to go beyond his level in 2022 with Freo.

He will have a freedom that won't be found in a developing tigers side with Freo. Rolling through the midfield, Bradshaw, Serong, and Young all demand attention so more times than not Bolton will have some free air. Could be on for a 50 goal year which will have Freo supporters ripping their hair out because it is also a 100 point year as well.
