Brent Moloney - Brownlow smokey?

just not a realistic thread.

I mean really??

Great player but is not the best or the fairest in the league.

It was a realistic thread at the time it was made, as Moloney was in great form at the start of the season. Would still be leading Melbourne's B&F at this stage, with Colin Sylvia, Stefan Martin, Brad Green and Jack Trengove likely rounding out the top five.

I was wondering though, how long has it been since a player didn't register a stat in any category (not even so much as a tackle or a free kick against) during a game?

IT's already been confirmed by the Melbourne coaching department that Moloney had a bad fever...

Yet being the tough bloke he is, tried to persevere until he just couldnt play anymore

Which was about a minute or two into the game.If he was that bad he shouldn't have been so selfish and should've withdrawn.

What, one VERY poor game and your quick to bump this post. No, way is he in contention for the brownlow, but he is the best centre bounce clearance winner in the game. Stick to the bay dude!

Yeah nah. Top five when he's playing to the absolute maximum of his ability, and that's being generous to Moloney.

So were a few players. Point is, after four rounds, Melbourne played the two Queensland sides who were rather average at the time, Melbourne were never going to keep winning, and Moloney wasn't going to keep up his form over the season. If every time a player puts together four good games, a fan says "oh emm gee, player x is a chance for the brownlow!" this board will be full of crap (well, more full of crap than currently).

Hence why the title said "smokey", with a question mark, instead of "favourite", with an exclaimation point. It was as much acknowledging his good start to the season as questioning whether he could keep it up and then be a dark horse for the medal on the night.
