Brett Delidio's broken hand - kicking in danger

Yeah, like the time Lloydy sniped Campbell Brown behind play and received... 0 weeks.

Or like the time he smashed Thurgood in the face with his forearm guard, broke the guy's jaw and received.... 0 weeks

Yeah, I guess you're right. Technically speaking, 0 weeks is still weeks.

Lloyd was just evening up...remember sniper Brown on Winderlich. That's what you call a sniper. The most cowardly thing I've ever seen in football. Sniper Coward Brown - the most snipery sniper in the AFL.

I have not seen the incident, but I'd rate kicking in danger over a shoulder to the head (like kerrs) any day of the week... I mean what happens the next time when the kick misses the hand and gets him square in the face. The AFL will look very foolish then.

Unlucky lids.

Tigers71 takes the prize for the largest quantity of crap in any single thread today. Was 71 their last flag or was that the year they ran their save our skins campaign when people like me and other North members helped them out?

You, however, take the prize for easily the single most ridiculous comment. Kerr's "shoulder" to the head as you call it is much more like an elbow to the face. All but the most one-eyed (or possibly vision-impaired) observer would see it as an elbow.

He's lucky to get a week for an elbow to the head, a supposedly sacrosanct area. Any other player from any other club and it would probably haver been 3 or 4 weeks but WCE get the usual AFL discount and it's a soft one weeker.

Or maybe they gave Kerr credit for aiming higher than the groin this time ?

One did. Andrew Krakouer was reported for kicking Milburn in the face in the pre-season comp. Got off as it was clearly an unfortunate accident just like Grant and Deledio.

Oh yes good old Andy Krakouer.Tigers remember?

He was going for the ball, it is called an accident. You can forgive Grant for not expecting a Richmond player going in for a hardball get.

How many weeks did Stafford get for caving in Everitt's head? Accidents happen.

The Hand is not a vital organ...

If Kicking in danger is the problem, then why would players risk smothering the ball... Their hands are just as in danger when they attempt to smother the ball as they are when reach for it.

For those of you that say neither are the legs/knees being vital organs.... If you infringed in those, that would be a trip!

i had to chuckle at that one

pay that :D

The Hand is not a vital organ...

Yes but does this mean that you can kick a player in the leg, hand, arm, or any other non vital organ at will and not get pinged for it? By the way, the Head isnt a 'vital organ' either and Im sure you dont think you can kick them there?

Face it, a North player acted recklessly, and now Deledio has a broken hand because of this, far more damage done than the average head high bump, and the action was clearly reckless. Why should he not be suspended?

I dont know if it is a culture issue, Id like to think it was just coincidence, but later in that quarter another north player did a dangerous kick in danger and either connected with a tigers' torso or missed altogether, and a free was paid

Watch the umpires start paying kicking in danger alot more now.

They've refused to pay it for the past 2 years....it just "went out of fashion" and now this happens they'll start enforcing it again. Then the cycle will repeat itself.

Yes but we dug deep and ran a campaign to 'save our skins' . Will you guys do that when the AFL come knocking? If you do, I will give you some money. That's if you do!

Kicking in danger. Needs to be looked at more but is rarely completely clear cut and the benefit of the doubt needs to be paid.

So where does it end? every time there's a kicking in danger should someone be reported? or only when the "in danger" player gets injured?

Why not? Seems to be the way it works for head high contact. They take into account any injury the other person suffered, and if there is no injury, its low impact and the reported player generally gets off.

The tribunal is a joke, so much inconsistency.

Some of you people need to toughen the fcuck up.

Probably, AFL included. This incident is 'soft', but hands in the back is fine? Please.

Serious question: Is kicking in danger still in the rule book? Wouldn't mind seeing a definition if it is.
