Prediction Bring Heath Shaw home

I don't think Shaw will have that many suiters, a deal around the veteran minimum plus match payments (if he achieves them) should be enough to entice him. That is if he wants to play under Bucks.

Signing Shaw could actually help our salary cap, rather than hinder it.

It'll also allow a great Collingwood player to retire on his own terms and not be delisted, which I think we should at least entertain.

Shaw isn't coming back. GWS have made the right call. GWS had no option but to delist him when Shaw stated he would not be retiring.

Shaw and Buckley have not smoked the Peace Pipe. Shaw has stated in the past that he is unsure he would answer a call from Buckley. Shaw said he had been “pushed out” of Collingwood at the time. “I was definitely pushed out and I didn’t really want to go, didn’t see myself ever leaving Collingwood but it was the best thing I ever did,”

Shaw is 35 in 2 months.

He fell off the cliff in football terms this year. Got caught with the ball more often. Was a bit slow in covering the ground and struggled to get into games. This is reflected in his stats with all of his stats reducing by approx 50% this year.

Coaching/Playing one year Dave.............kill two birds with one stone.

On minimum $ Dave

Because you know he would be a good coach?
Nothing about Heater suggests he would be a good coach. If anything, he would appear to me to be a poor candidate.

Getting Heater would be a ridiculous move. Well past his best, not a list need, and take up dollars and list space better reserved for others

Is it the same people complaining that the Pies coaching staff is a boys club who also want Shaw back to transition into coaching? I’m confused.

The Librarian is a champion and I love him, but time has passed and both parties have moved on.

I am the one suggesting it...........care to find my post complaining that the Pies coaching staff is a boys club?

He has matured heaps.......helped Coach the GWS AFLW team.

Is a coach on field.

Watched plenty of GWS games and he definitely has one year in him........he isn’t cooked Apex36

Yes I have.........who better to learn the caper from in 2021.

We (all Clubs) are trying to cut costs (Buddha gone ☹) he would be the perfect coach/player for ONE year in 2021........just saying.

Two birds one stone.........

If he’s matured heaps and GWS are still trying to be competitive, why have they let him go?

Do we need more people pushing players like Nathan Murphy down the pecking order/out of the club?

They failed to make finals it was the sensible thing to do

How many games did Murphy play this year? No need to answer.

By the way I am hearing Eddie wants Heath back 😉

🤣 Eddie is too busy advising Dan Andrews how to implement Stockholm Syndrome to be focussing on list strategy atm.

Why on earth would we take Shaw back? He's old and we have the 2nd best defence in the comp...

Can we please just recruit the best tall forward of the last few years (who is still only 27; Hawkins is 32 for context) and a speedy crumber at his feet?

Mark Robinson was another person suggesting Heath go somewhere, to the Kangaroos 🦘 who have just delisted 11 players and treated BB like dirt.

Good company

As much as Heath returning would be nice, I think small-mid defenders are the least of our worries atm.

Brown and one of Gunston or Hogan I think should be our play, of which I'm leaning slightly more towards Hogan as I'm not sure how much Gunston will cost. While I do really rate Gunston, I'm not really sure he'll actually move or if he'll be worth how much we would need to give up for him, Hogan will be cheaper and might be easier to get out of Freo.

I do like the WCE Cameron rumor (can't I say I like the suggestion of him costing a first and a player). Even if it eventuates to zero, I do hope the rumor of us at least being interested is true as it means we've hopefully identified a need and are actively looking to address it.

Keeerist!!!!
I'm tired of the Heater talk.
Loved him as a player but he was one seriously loose cannon - just ask his team mates.
Hated Buckley for breaking up the bad bunch, packed his bag and left in high dungeon.
. . . . He ain't coming back.

and we got a All Austrlian back in the Trade ;)

Loved that moment and in general loved his play whilst he was with us but he isn't that person anymore.
He won't come back.

Some people grow up and learn from their past errors...........some don’t.
I think Heater has learnt heaps away from us.

I would love to see him in the Black & White for one more year.

Dreaming . . . his parting with Buckley was - from all reports - bitter.
As for growing up . . you do realize he has a condition?
Was never about immaturity was about anger over his mates being moved on.

But the question is why?

He would not make us better, unlikely to be best 22, and makes our list potentially weaker in the longer term by taking a list spot in the short term.

Nothing about it makes sense apart from the romance, and that is overrated.

If we’re going to recruit washed up former premiership players might as well get Trav Cloke fit and sit him in the square next year. At least he fills a need. 😂😂😂
Love the Trav Man!
