Brisbane Lions have been super successful in the last 6-7 years with some good finishing positions and lots of finals series.
Looking at their list in 2013 they had
Sam Docherty
Jack Crisp
Elliot Yeo
Jack Redden
Matt Leunberger
Tom Rockliff

all traded away very cheaply the highest pick coming in was #17 for Redden

Where could of they finished with those players, I don't think those picks they received would of helped them get in players like Daniher, Neale, Cameron and Dunkley that would of been able to happen anyway and probably more success in years 2017-2019.

All in all they have done very well with their trades in, just would of been interesting to see how good they could of been if they kept a couple of those players on the list for a couple more years and their trade value then.

Interesting thread.

Most of those players asked to be traded / free agents. Same thing is happening to Richmond at the moment.

It took Fagan and Swann to stabilise the club, and Berry and McLugage to re-sign to stop the steady outflow of players.

Dont forget getting David Noble as your list manager too back in late 2016 or early 2017

The Swans in the mid 90s found themselves in a similar plight.

Luke Hodge was their Ron Barassi. A well past their prime player (coach) who went up there and instilled valuable experience and leadership in the early stages of the project

Lachie Neale was their Tony Lockett. Not the same profile or player as Plugger but the key acquisition that made them a destination club again.
