Melbourne pick 68

Liam Ryan: DOB: 2/10/96 Ht:184cm Wt:71kg Subiaco
"Liam is a forward who is very quick, can take a hanger and finished second in our senior goalkicking (42 for the year from 16 games) has just turned 20 so there is still upside in him plays as a mid-sized forward at 184cm. Will need to keep working on he's endurance and maintaining defensive pressure at the contest because he's offensive stuff is outstanding. Can runaway from opponents and he's goal awareness is pretty good. Credit goes to Subiaco football operations manager Daniel Vidovich.

pick 70- Fremantle.

Esava Ratagolea height- 194cm. weight- 95kg. position- key forward/ruck.

others in contention at this pick- Tom Stewart, Matt Guelfi.

i know very little about this fella, this from AFL draft central-

Murray Bushrangers tall Esava Ratugolea jumped into National Draft headlines when he booted eight goals against the Bendigo Pioneers in June. The remarkable performance caught the eyes of Vic Country, who drafted him in for the Under 18 championships game the following Friday.

Ratugolea is an Australia born to Fijian parents and his breakout performance against the Pioneers showed what he has the ability to produce.

Whilst being very raw, brushing off a knee injury in the preseason, Ratugolea has shown some traits that will make clubs excited. The promising ruck/forward has the ability to impact a contest and his athletic traits have seen him nominated by clubs to attend the National Combine despite a relatively quiet Under 18 championships.

Pick 72 - Gcs

Ben Long

PLAYER BIO
Age:19
Height:183cm
Weight:71kg
Position:Defender
2016 U18 STATS
Games:4
Goals:-
Avg Kicks:8
Avg Marks:4.5
Avg Hballs:6.5
A medium-sized defender who has the versatility to play on tall or small forwards, Long also has the speed to roll through the midfield. Averaged 20 possessions and four inside 50s in two games at the division two NAB AFL Under-18 Championships for the NT before earning selection for the Allies. Long – a nephew of Essendon great Michael - boarded at Melbourne Grammar and played for Footscray in the VFL.
Can also play forward and did so with great success in the VFL final.
He is an over ager but i felt he deserved a go.

Pick 75 - Brisbane selects Josh Williams - GC Academy

Not to pump up my own tyres but this is a steal and I'm convinced we'll actually take Josh at 22 tonight. Josh ticks a lot of boxes for Brisbane... Queenslander, outside run, run & carry, smart kick & speed. While he's very slight and will take a few years to build up Josh will ideally develop into a winger in the Isaac Smith/Andrew Gaff mould or perhaps even a half back.

The knocks on Williams are his lack of inside game, endurance and his light build. The latter two will come in a professional AFL environment but he's going to have to work really hard on his contested/uncontested split. The talent, however, is undoubted and we could be looking at a pretty enticing project player.

Pick 76 - Brisbane selects Ben Ronke - Calder Cannons

Don't know a lot about Ronke but Knightmare has him at 25 in his final power rankings.
25. Benjamin Ronke (VIC)

Best position:
Inside midfield/general forward

Height, weight: 181cm, 75kg

Recruited from: Calder Cannons

Plays like: Luke Shuey

Projected draft range: late/rookie

Rated last month: 25

Rationale behind ranking/change of ranking: Excellent second half to the TAC Cup season where strong production and explosive speed and contested-ball winning stood out. Rapid rate of improvement demonstrated. Finished in Calder's best in his last seven games and was listed as Calder's best player in five of his last six matches. Late season he played two VFL games and at that level also held his own.
Strengths:

- Contested-ball winning

- Wins first possession at stoppages

- Explosive acceleration

- Breaks away from stoppages

- Tackling

- Chase-down tackling

- Energy around the contest

- Gives second and third efforts

- Athleticism

- Rate of improvement and standard of performance through second half of season

- Held his own against VFL standard competition

- Scoreboard impact (19 goals from 15 TAC Cup games and two goals from two VFL contests)

- Kicks goals from stoppages and on the move

- Can play forward

Weaknesses:

- Inconsistent foot skills

- When pressured feels rushed and can make poor decisions

- Does not find much easy outside ball

godamnit would have loved Tom Stewart

will take Harry Morrison, rockys cousin, has good physical attributes like endurance and agility finishing 4th in the combine which is pleasing and 2nd in the goal kicking test so has decent disposal...could also help entice rocky to richmond next year

Ben Jarman, Patrick Lipinski, Matt Guelfi, Tom Wiliamson and Willie Rioli still left. Or Quinton Narkle purely for the name.

Ok. Talked me into it.

Pick 74- Western Bulldogs

Ben Jarman.

If Adelaide haven't got the decency to pick him up, we Doggies will accommodate him in the kennel.
