Checking in seeing some great players have been picked just thought I would mention Tim Taranto was on SEN today he really impressed me would have no problems picking him at 3 if my heart wasn't set on drafting Ainsworth

interesting pick. Curious how did you approach pick 8 knowing me & the swans were inbetween your 8 & 10. Did you take a gamble on Setterfield being available at 10?

My intentions were to always get 4 particular boys. Jack Bowes was no longer available at 6 and i couldn't match in this scenario. So i just brought forward my other picks. Was hoping to get Bowes at 8 and Scrimshaw at 10.

Im also very comfortable in picking Taranto at 3. We should also bid on Setterfield to force GWS to burn draft points which will help later on

Have updated draft order as per Patrick Keane confirming final order, which is great news for jivlain (Hawthorn) who only has to wait until pick 81 now

Port Adelaide pick Josh Battle with pick 14.

It may be a shock but with butcher and Schultz no longer at the club picking up one of the best young key forward in competition will be a key element of port Adelaides draft strategy. He had a great vic country tournament and a terrific finals series for the stringrays. The doubts about him being undersized may prove true but he is a proven goal kicker in the jack gunstan mould which should add to the port Adelaide list.

Pick 16 Brisbane Lions select Sam Powell-Pepper - East Perth

My strategy here was best available, based on the fact I'll be able to get a HBF later on (there are a few still available and in the same range, so not too concerned about missing out on a particular player).
I love SPP's aggression and his hard-at-it attitude to footy. Throw him and Rhys Mathieson in the centre square and opposition teams will know they're going to war. Not only is Sam tough but he's also extremely versatile, having successfully spent time at HFF, HBF and through the midfield. Forward of centre he reminds me of Dustin Martin with his willingness to take on tacklers, use the don't argue and also his love for a goal. In the WAFL Colts grand final this year SPP had 22 touches, 7 tackles and 4 goals to almost single-handily carry East Perth to the flag, illustrating his ability to perform on the big stage.
Despite his stocky build (he looks like a seasoned country footballer) he's fleet of foot and has good endurance. SPP will be ready to go round 1, probably in the forward half.

There are concerns over his disposal by foot, but from the vision I've seen he's a very good finisher in front of goal. My concern, at least early in his career, will be adapting to AFL footy. I think SPP uses his body very well at under-18 level against smaller bodies but he won't reap the same results against professional footballers.
