Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

What's your excuse for not being on a list, Daniel? :p

He's from Canberra, everyone knows what usually comes from that place:p:D:p:D

DanielMelbourne, or DanielBrisbane would have been drafted years ago:thumbsu:

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

Has proven that he can be a gun. Is only 25 as well:thumbsu: Im on the get Ball bandwagon.

Get the ball rolling Lionshine:D

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

Who are you moving out of the midfield POBT?

Perhaps Power could gradually spend more time up forward?

Not sure you meant to direct the question to me but there's a number of options:

- reduce Brennan's time on ball
- play Power as a small forward
- Rich across half forward more
- Blacky to spend a bit more time on the pine

I was super-impressed with Polks on Saturday night. If that is the standard he will produce regularly, I'd have him as our 4th or 5th best centre square option behind Black, Brennan and Rich and about on par with Power. Too early to tell definitively but he just looked a natural. Was playing the blocking role and still won clearances - impressive.

On Power as a forward, I have been one to argue against it based on his declining pace and lack of kick penetration but I can't help but remember the first Essendon (?) game this year where he made a real impact. Might still have some use there.

I think we need to rotate our mids through the forward line a bit more. And as pointed out, I'd think about playing Lukey/Brennan up forward a little more.

Polks uses creative handball to put teammates into a good position. I personally think that's more important to the team than his forward line prowess. I think he's got the potential to be our #1 extractor.

Could be onto something there Belg, rotating Brennan and Power through the forward line wouldn't be a bad idea. Polks always was a midfielder, but like many mids has got a start elsewhere, he has done really well to do as good as he has up forward. I like that Voss gave him a go in the middle, and i hope he gets another spell in there this week. When Polks is in there, throw Brennan or Power up forward to replace him, all 3 a very different players with different strengths, would be very hard to match up on. The defense would have to shuffle around to account for them.

We looked much better at the start of the season with our mids kicking more goals. We have gone away from that a little and fallen into old habbits, kicking the ball into the 50 without much direction. We have a number of players that can kick a goal from outside 50, we need to use these guys more to bring the defense up the ground a bit.

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

Perhaps Ryan Gamble could be worth consideration?

He might be worth a punt. Where's Ritzy when you need him, the orb could help here:D

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

St Kilda would want our first round pick for Ball, however I would be more inclined to trade second rounder + a player, such as Travis Johnston for him. Even so I am not 100% sure about him, he has had injury problems and has supposedly reduced his athletic ability. Also from what I have seen and heard this year his Kicking has been really poor, and when I saw him against the Hawks he could barely kick 45m, and many of his kicks were shockers, quite a few were even out on the full.

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

No to Gamble. My lasting images of him were when he played against us round 14 this year, and every time he touched the ball (kicked towards a teammate or lined up for a behind), Cats supporters around me groaned in unison, "sh** Vegas!". :D

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

Yes Thomson is so good he has taken 20 rounds to get a game for RICHMOND:rolleyes:
Has been injured most of the year. In any event, I'm not sure that clubs generally re-trade someone they traded in the year before.

I don't mind speculation but can we keep it in the realms of remote possibility? I mean, we don't want to be debating the trade merits of the woman who ran the 800m for South Africa in Berlin, even if, gender speaking, she may actually be eligible to play senior footy.

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

Back in July the Herald Sun reported Luke Ball's salary at $600k.

Surely after a season like this one he couldn't expect to stay on that kind of money?
If the Saints win the flag he'll more than likely be taking a pay cut anyway.

Actually that may be a more interesting topic to discuss rather than having a new thread on every hack that has been delisted, a la "Are we interested in Russell Robertson” or "Are we interested in [insert delisted hack]"

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

You may as well quinella him with Miller as he could hold down chb if they could be taken cheaply.
Your club is the only one that could take these two due to your team balance.:thumbsu:

You can't be serious:confused:

  • One, Robbo's no good;
  • two, Miller is marginally better, and;
  • three, we have enough KPPs.

Re: Brisbane Draft Discussion

Personally i would rather the lions trade for for a small crumbing forward eg. Lindsay Thomas, Matthew Campbell (anyone see his goal on the weekend, just what we need, bursting onto the spilt ball with pace), Garlett, Betts.

And i dont think anyone of them would pull a trade for our 1st rounder, which saves that for drafting a classy midfielder.

Yeah would love one of them if we could get them for the right price.
