Brisbane - how good are they?

You are kidding. The umpires? That is weak.

lol, I knew somebody would jump on that. Black and Brown both got soft pushes in the back that resulted in goals, and Sherman didnt exactly hold his mark that ended in one too.

I'm not blaming the umps for tonights loss, far from it, i just feel the game is so frustrating to watch these days as a result.

well done to the Lions on belting us.

I agree with Sherman's "Mark", but the rest were there. The push in the back rule has been pretty obvious for a while now. Of course, if you are second to the ball that much you are going to get many of those against you.

How good is Leigh Mathews? I'd kill to have him at Freo.

Some coaches are masters at squeezing every drop of talent out of their players but stuggle to rebuild a list (ie Malthouse). And some can build a competitive list but seem to struggle to get them playing to their potential consistantly (Daniher? Connolly?).

Judging from the speedy progress so far of Brisbane's post-dynasty rebuilding, Lethal seems to be the complete package.

Yes it's going to be quite interesting to see if that is indeed the case.

There have been accusations and question marks over Lethal's abilities as a team rebuilder, becuase both his Collingwood and brisbane flags have come from already established teams.

I hope he is a good rebuilder. Brissy are my second team, and may even become my first after I move there !!

Know doubt Leigh has looked at this being Brisbanes best chance this year to start the year firing and seeing if the young kids can hold on in the second half of the year

Full credit to Lethal.

Anyone that thinks he's lost the fire or the game has passed him by is living in hope rather than reality.

I wonder how much a certain ex-player helped reignite the fire after the criticisms of him and his coaching?

They have some good players on their side, a couple had whistles.

You are a joker, yes if it were not for the umpires the saints were right in it !

We have an exciting midfield, our backline is better than most would of suspected, and we have several key players to return- Charman, lappin, hadley, drummond, Roe all were absent last night.

It was definitely not a case of the saints playing poorly and our win was by default, the young lions are fierce at the footy and make it very hard for teams to generate scoring shots.

Is it just a purple patch, can it be sustained- time will tell.

I would also like to point out, that whilst we have a lot of younger players, they have more experience than perhaps there counterparts at other clubs, having been thrown in the deep end the last 2 seasons.

Top 8-maybe.

I agree BBFFC, the Lions slugged it out in an arm wrestle early and finally broke us. So far this year most of our players have been making plenty of skill errors (especially our forwards) but making up for it with their workrate. The Lions pressure and clean use of the ball finally broke us. Frustration from us, clean skills and intensity from the Lions and a few home town umpiring decisions led to the lopsided free kick count. It was a consequence of how the Lions played not a reason for it.

No excuses from us, we we poor as a result of the Lions good play.

They've played 2 consecutive games at home, lets see how their kids perform away before we cast judgement.

Its still way too early to tell.

There best move was getting rid of Aker. Class player but a disease for the club.

Like the look of big Wood. No doubt the loss of Bradshaw is massive but it will be a test to see how these 2nd-3rd year guys stand up to a long seaon.

20 games to go in the season so its a bit soon to be talking about how good we are. considering that a lot of people had us for the wooden spoon a month ago. i'm excited at the talent we have coming through but i doubt they can match the intensity all season long - this year anyway. i think 10-12 wins this year is a possibility though. the best thing ive noticed about the squad so far is that they all look to be loving playing footy which is what you want, and even leigh looks to be excited by them.

Rischettelli(hope I spelt it right) is gonna be a superstar, hes a ball magnet and would have to just about be in the best 50 players in the comp.
