Melbourne drafted Blease (P17) and Strauss (P19) last year as well who both did not play this year. Both are very highly regarded in particular Blease who was bottom age and would be top 10 pick this year. Add them to the likely drafting of Scully and Trengove/Martin/Morabito and you can see why we traded Brock. It is a win-win deal and gives us a crack at one of the better KP in the draft as most of the top 10 are expected to be mids. Adding a Panos/Talia/ Carlisle/Black/Vardy or if by some miracle Butcher really helps our list long term and helps Watts and Jurrah.

You guys will no doubt be on the improve in the next 2-3 years. My only concern is who is taking all of these kids under their wing and teaching them about AFL football. Coaching can do so much and Brock would seem the most likely leader at your club...I know Gibbs and Murphy have benefitted immensely by having Judd to look up to.

Wrong ! this years draft is weakened by the exclusions of 17 yr olds ...hence it's a lot shallower draft ..anything over 10 would be equal to round 2 in previous drafts .

Absolute rot.

Typically about 25% of first rounders are bottom aged. Last year there was only Watts, Ziebell, and Blease in the top 20. And this is par for the course.

Pick 11 this year equates to a pick around 13-15 in a 'normal' year.
