Reports are today I heard driving home the Pies don’t want to pay ANY of his contract to another club and want the whole lot off their books and it has to be this off season.

That is a lot to take on for the Demons I reckon for still a massive amount of time.

Could be heresay but it was mentioned someone from the Pies hierarchy stated it today. ( Not sure who and happy to be corrected if it is wrong ).

If it is true good luck to any club taking on that contract for the time that is left running regarding his body issues lately.

Brad Ottens was! He averaged one goal a game, and there was a few years there he was kicking 20+ a season. He fell off a bit due to injury and whatnot, but Brad Ottens was very much a goal kicker. He could easily have played as a forward if he wasn't a ruck.

Yeah, even those who can tend to specialise one way or the other (Everitt, Salmon, Ottens). Simon Madden is the only one that comes to mind and he is a bit of freak outlier.

FA closes 10 October, Trade 12 October - Collingwood can't run this deal down to the trade wire, they have to get it done before the FA wire for McStay. Well that's actually incorrect. The whole reason they were getting rid of them was because they couldn't fit them both into their salary cap.

Pies have literally told Grundy to bugger off because your cap is in shambles, same reason why Treloar is currently being paid to play for another team.

Neither will be pivotal key forwards.

They'll share main ruck duties (maybe 60/40 Grundy's way) and I suspect play 75% game time each (90 of 120 minutes), which is roughly 15% less than usual.

Melbourne's core 4 mids are as good as any in the league and they'll be serviced by multiple AA calibre ruckmen 100% of game time. What an advantage.

Posters thought we were mad taking Jackson with pick 3. It worked and he plays in a flag.

If Nankervis and Soldo can be premiership teammates in 2019 I'll back the Dees to make Gawn/Grundy work.

We do need to move the ball better and get far better connection with our forwards, but Gawn or Grundy occasionally playing forward won't determine the over-all quality of our forward-line.

300k a year is nothing. That still puts Grundy at about 1million a season if he plays til 32 years old. No thanks.

Does that mean that Melbourne can trade Ben Brown for a first rounder because he dominated the league several years ago? Terrible logic. The guy is 29 next season. You're talking about him like he's 25.
