No idea why he wasn’t selected but I am sure there was a justifiable reason. I am not going to jump to conclusions and call it stupid as I have no idea what goes on in the inner sanctum of the match committee.

A few clubs got it completely wrongThe only awful investment was the dees taking Grundy.
Lobb should've gone to the Dees, Lobb wasn't needed at the dogs either

Goodwin, when questioned, admitted part of the reason Schache was brought in was because of Gawn’s injury.
That’s even more perplexing as to why Grundy wasn’t chosen over him.

No we didn't and we also got Jones,
Melbourne needed Lobb though and got the wrong option and you will not pay as much as the dees fans think here as a 600k+ VFL player will cause massive issues

The reason it failed is because Goodwin is a shithouse coach, as opposed to anything else.
Anyone with 1/10th of a brain would have figured out the tactic of playing Gawn at the centre bounce and having simply stay in the defensive half while Grundy at forward came up and took the ruck contests around the ground when the ball was in that direction. Would have conceeded 5 goals a game playing that style of footy

I understand them coming to the conclusion that the trade hasn't worked out. but he was clearly a better option than alternatives that Melbourne went with in the end.
