Seems to me the MRP end up basing there decision on the injury of the other player and doctors from that club as to base there view on there decision.
I wonder was the Umpire that payed Brodie a free kick part of the MRP review ?

Of course they do.

Challenge: Head= Doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Heart: Yes just for the sake of getting clarification once and for all.

its probably already been said, but part of the problem was that Brown raised his right leg while trying to get his arms free, obviously trying to drop the ball on to his foot. That's why he was easily thrown by Brodie, had both legs been planted on the ground, no way would Brodie have bought him to ground that hard.

So you're saying Brown actually contributed to his own demise? Accidents happen...only fools and lawyers try to profit from them.

But you are self absorbed ;)

I'd be challenging depending on the recommendation of the Roos medical team.

Agree the club should challenge but what has it got to do with Roos?

I'd like to see this great game of ours change again. The bump has all but gone, now the tackle is in question and the result of whether a player gets suspended depends on the outcome.
Let's also suspend players if the player getting tackled does his shoulder, hurts his ankle or worse breaks their leg.
I'd like to see no contact, let's have a 5 second rule for a player to get rid of the ball.
Let's also penalise a player putting his knee in a players back in a marking contest just in case that player gets hurt.
Let's remove all contact in football.

Btw I hope Ben Brown is okay, no fan likes to see any player seriously hurt.

In protest, we should not lay a single tackle against Port. Show theAFL what kind of spectacle their stupidity will eventually lead to.

I like how we were protesting in this manner earlier in the season. Not quite sure why though.

Seriously though, this is laughable that Grundy no intent gets done and Sniper Ziebell does not even get a look in. Not much makes me annoyed about footy anymore but the inconsistency truly does.

I think I watched that on Telly....its called Ultimate frisbee!

So they've taken bumping and now tackling out of the game.

Next is if you take a screamer and knee someone in the head and they get concussed you'll get suspended.

Or Touch a Player. You get Reported

The club should appeal this. At this point in the year it doesn't matter if he's rubbed out for the last game. Lose, and Brodie gets an early off season, well deserved. Win, and it might actually change the lunacy of what the MRP has become, in penalizing outcomes over actions.

Zeibell sling tackles Treloar head first and gets a free paid against him - no charge.

Grundy lays a textbook tackle and Brown lands awkwardly and gets knocked out - 2 weeks.

This game has become a joke. Common sense needs to prevail for once ffs

Game been a Joke for a Long Time

We will definitely challenge I would've thought.

Worst case scenario is he gets 3. if we accept 2, it means he has to come back for 1 game. I doubt we'd even risk it with the pre-season ahead of him. Better to just put him on ice now...he has done more than enough this year.

Regardless of that, this is a situation that needs to be tested through the AFL's independent judiciary system. It's the only way the rules are clarified.

If it goes to the Tribunal and we lose, so be it. At least we are all clearer about what is allowed in a tackle and what is not.

For me, this was on par with Dangerfield, if not slightly less serious considering the ball was still in play. I was comfortable with 2 down to 1 like Danger's.

But 3 seems hefty.

My exact thoughts.

I assumed 2 down to 1 like Danger. They were basically identical incidents except Brown actually still had the ball and tried to fight the tackle which means Brodie had to get aggressive to take down such a huge guy.

God help us if a player runs into a goal post or the fence and gets concussion...will we report the nearest opposition player?
What happens if a player gets Falconed and concussed that way? Two week ban for the player who kicked it? What if it's friendly fire?

Every yr these clowns find new ways to destroy the game.

Had enough of this crap - this game will be obliterated by soccer in 15 yrs. Might start following Melb Victory lol

Dennis Banks,Ryhce Jones etc must sit back laughing at this.

Watching replay now. It was bad. But players need to re set and be better trained. You can't sling.
I think you need to go and look at what a sling tackle actually is, because what Grundy did sure as shit wasn't one.

I watched it literally 25m away and it was HTB every day of the week. Look at the rules thou. There were 2 actions. The rules need to be re written.

If there was any justice and the AFL were actually serious about concussion and duty of care Ziebell would get a week and Grundy none.

But if you pin the arms you seriously need to either a) stop the action or b) control the fall.

Not meaning to be a smart arse but read the previous post. A proper tackle means drop the knees and the momentum carries both parties forward.

The AFL need to stop their PR battle and constant manipulation of the rules and simply apply what is there.
