Good first two eps, second one especially so. People of a certain persuasion will hate the first episode but it is what it is for pretty valid reasons. Stick with it for the second episode which is 'normal' B99.

I got a good laugh from the first 2 episodes. I found the first one especially funny, and as the show always does, found a way to get good humour into serious real life issues.

I actually preferred the first episode to the second and I agree that they handled the thorny topic of some of the institutional problems police forces face about as well as they could. That little montage of the captain going on and on about what could happen illustrated some of the problems perfectly.

The second episode was okay, but I thought it was pretty weak for a few characters - Rosa and Terry in particular. Hopefully it was just because its not possible to provide time to enough storylines to enough characters in a given episode and not an indication of
Rosa becoming Hitchcock 2.0 because they don't know how to integrate her into the story if she's not a cop any more

yeah i turned it off halfway through the first episode.

its not that im 'of a certain persuasion', its just that i watch comedy to laugh and escape from reality, not to be lectured by millionaires

Yawn. It's almost as if 99% of comedy is rooted in reality and finding a way to laugh at it.

"I hope Hitchcock is back I person soon. Reminds me of .Marshall on the last season of HIMYM."
I was devastated to see Hitchcock off the force!

The issues addressed in that episode had to be done. But I think they could have done better if they had an episode beforehand leading into it.
I would have liked an episode focussing on Rosa coming to realisation that she didn't want to be part of the system anymore. And for it to have shown Holt's battle about receiving orders from the higher ups about BLM that he disagreed with but still going along with them, and how that contributed to him and Kevin separating.

Then the second episode could have been about Jake clinging to the idea that a 'good cop' can do more good from inside the NYPD than from trying to do good from the outside. And then like they did in the episode have him coming to the realisation its much more complicated than that.

I reckon two episodes dealing with the heavy stuff might have been a bit much for a comedy that is only doing a 10-episode season.

Just finished the first two episodes back to back, thought it was a great return to form. If they can maintain it for the next eight episodes it will be a fondly remembered comedy imo.

I agree with those that think they handled BLM well. I also enjoyed the opening reference to COVID.

Agreed, enjoyed both episodes, but there was just so many topics covered in the 1st episode that it could have done with a 2nd episode to make it less heavy

Not loving the episodes but not hating them either. It's really far from the Brooklyn Nine-Nine I loved early but it still it has it's moments.
