There's been no real KPP targets who are west australian. I don't want to sell the farm for Croad/ Tarrant v 3.0. The mini-draft pick was only a possibility for you deluded lot who thought Ibbo+Lower+our first was somehow worth more than pick 2 in the draft (i.e. never).

How the Clark affair turned out last year was a mistake but the guys broken his foot. Not a good injury for a big man to have (see Croad, Egan and even Yao Ming).

What have we missed on that we should have got?

The Broughton trade is average but I believe that we will offer Buddy in the vicinity of 1.5 mil per year to try get him to play for us. He still won't come but I think our club is clearing cap for a major FA run next year.

I think you maybe right but the club prob. won't come out and say that at the moment.
 
Cool meltdown since this morning. :)

Broughton has at best 5-6 years of footy left in him. Clubs generally don't pony up picks in the 20's unless the player has more footy left than that, especially when the player is supposedly best 22 only and . Maybe if Broughton was best 5 then we may have been a shot.

I think we got unders, but it definitely looks like it was done for a reason. Salary, attitude, list space, dodgy mates - whatever the reason, I have confidence that those making the calls have a bit more information than I do.

If you seriously think Bondy and co go out of their way to make it impossible to get into Freo and piss-easy to get out, then you need to put on your tin hat.

Didn't Broughton only have a year to run? So how does him not being in next years cap make a difference to getting a free agent for 2014?

Restructure Fyfe, Hill etc contracts so they get a whack of cash this year and less next year = cap space next year (as an example).

Cloke was the only FA KPF available and we had a genuine crack at him. We can't force people to play for us.

Well we can, but only through the draft - which may be the 2nd half of the Broughton deal everyone is slitting their wrists over.

Sounds like the "oh we missed out on Clark, but we'll have so much cap space to get Cloke or Goddard next year" excuses at the end of 2011.

We had a fair crack at Goddard too but I don't want to over pay Vics to play for us anymore anyway.

Well I heard and good source (his cousin), he was on poor wage. He was getting just above Rookie Wage and when Ross Lyon joined he did not fancy him. That trade is so infavour to the Gold Coast it is not funny.

Greg probably deserved better and he will earn the right amount of dough.

When Mundy and Barlow were playing Broughton was still not in defence . My post indicated that he was at the back of the queue for the back 6 . I guess I was wrong - with our midfield fit now he can fit back into his role as a one of our favoured defenders. Hang on he has been traded - i'm confused - Clearly I was wrong about him being out of favour because you said so but now he is now gone. Please help me understand where I have been going wrong?

Over react much? Maybe look at the context my post was in... was a reply to someone commenting on next years FA period and how we will be big players to land a big fish. All I did was make the comment that freo said that this year as well.... Dr. Pistol prescribes you a course of Anti-Biotics better known as a chill pill ;)

Pearce was probably the 2nd biggest fish to move in FA this year after Goddard, that makes us pretty big players. Some people just have unrealistic expectations.

So you're saying he wasn't good enough to play defense, so they stuck him in the midfield? Wouldn't he have been dropped?

Do you remember what our list looked like just four years ago?

Contrast that with 2012 where we were a kick or two away from a prelim. Surely Bond, Lloyd and Lyon get plenty of credit for the turn around?

Out - Broughton and pick 60.

Doesn't look that bad IMO.
 
Man for all you guys and gals bemoaning Bondy and saying this is a disaster.......let me just say welcome to the club and as you have obviously just joined us I hope you continue to support us going forward.

We are keeping our lower draft picks, we are attracting mature players to our club at bargain prices and we refuse to pay ridiculous prices in regards to picks/players plus we are trading peripheral players (hey love you Broughts but a 26 year old utility is not core) ...........so we aint capturing any free agents who are KPP's .........this is disappointing not disasterous.

Broughton being traded - OK I thought we might have got a pick about 10 places higher than we did ....we were never getting 13. However I don't know Broughts situation - could be salary cap, could be he is one of the ones disappointing in off field discipline and perhaps he just dont fit.

I don't know and dont really care. Lyon had us playing the best football I have ever see us play. For the first time in my life I am thinking that if we can get the right cattle on the ground in the next 2 years - we aare actually a ****ing chance to win this thing. If that means trading out a best 22 player to send a message, or if it is just because we want the cash to target someone they feel is better than Broughton .......do so with my blessing.

You want disaster - Croad me, Sam Mitchell me, Bell me, McLeod me ........Broughton is a really solid player but I could tell you 15 players on our list I would rather keep.

Plus to the Ibbo haters, you got no idea how important his run and carry is to our club ......Hill, Pearce, Ibbo and hopefully some push through by the likes of Menegola or Sutcliffe.

The fact we go to another draft with our 1st pick in place - win for me.
