Brownlow Medal 2011 (Part 2)

Lol at all the whingers bitching the thread got moved. It was always a punting thread, who out there was doing there own count with no intention of punting on the brownlow?

Totally irrelevant. Most good stat research is done with the intention to bet with any findings. If you were to remove any such thread, you'd get left with a board for "Historical Trivia", which is not at all why the Stats board was set up.

Couldn't agree more fellas. All I'm gonna say is keep it all to PM's and PM's only. Its in everyone's best interests...

also i am not a loser, talking up players who have no chance to win their teams is stupid, especially after all the discussion that has occurred in this thread during the year, anyone who got suckered into thinking Cotchin had a chance needs a bullet.

I find it hard to believe anything you jessies from the hush hush board say anymore :) 98% of what's posted in here is punting related, it's not like the stats board hard to find, everyone knows the brownlow thread was there anyway. I'm sure the stats nerds have no interest in it anyway. It's a strange time to move it, obviously a new mod wielding his powers.

Holy sh**, really do not like the new location of this thread. For anyone who cares, I'm sticking to private forum and PM's from now on. :)

If people are serious about brownlow punting then I stongly recommend not posting any good information in here.

Agreed! I've been mostly PMing for the last month or so.. think its a good idea not to give away too much info fellas

Move it back

Agreed. Surely you can do this mod? Absolutely no reason to move this so late in the season.

If you received a barrage of msgs requesting it to be moved here then fair enough, but I doubt that's the case.

Everyone uses it to discuss votes/stats which in turn leads to betting so it was fine where it was.

Never realised there was a quality Brownlow medal thread like this until today. Thank god it was moved to punting forum so i noticed it as it looks like there is some good discussion.

I bet on the brownlow most years and run my own brownlow count after each game, so looking forward to joining in the discussion and comparing my votes with you guys.

I was at the game last night actually with some mates. Davis was on fire and should get the 3, while i think Swan will get 2 and Johnson 1.

3 - Davis
2 - Swan
1 - Johnson

3. Davis
2. Swan
1. Montagna

Pretty confident Davis should get the 3, he may have kicked a few OOF but he did some spectacular things and was hard at it all night. Swan the 2 - did a lot as usual, but nothing amazing. 1 could go to a few players but I think Montagna really kept the Saints in it and kicked 3 as well.

Does anyone know if judd has been favourite ever since the market opened?

I remember him starting as outright favourite when the market first opened, i think he was at around $12.

I'm sure he's been favourite for at least the last 2/3 of the season but not so sure if he was favourite after the first few rounds since watson, swan and murphy all got off to fliers.

If judd has been favourite ever since the market first opened, I'd say that's the first time I can recall that ever happening where 1 player was favourite from start to finish?

When Sportsbet opened their market Swan was a $10 favourite, Goddard $12, Ablett $12, Selwood $14, Judd $14.

It'll be an injustice in my eyes if Betts and Houli don't get their respective 3s

I was tossing up whether to give Cotchin or Houli the 3, was one of the hardest picks of the round. I decided to go with Cotchin though, he just oozed a bit more class, but Houli could definitely poll 3 and i wouldnt be surprised.

Judd will almost certainly get 3 this week, Betts booted 6 but he wasnt "dominant" if you get what i mean. Still, he could get 2 votes and finish ahead Murphy this week. But i think Murphy for the 2 looks a good thing.

At the ground, Betts was dominant patrolled the forward half and was involved up the ground as well. I actually thought it was one of Judd's lesser games, gave away a few frees too. I think he will get votes but I doubt it will be 3. For what it's worth Gibbs had a good game too.

The Essendon game was tricky too. Stanton is an obvious choice for the 3, but the other 2 votes are tough to pick out. I think Hurley stood out enough for get 2 votes, but he is no moral. Fletcher, Hocking and Ryder were all good, so was Zaharakis and Hille. I ended up going with Fletcher though.
