Maher did not want to run her in Sydney. Mares rarely race on past 7yo either way - but this prep was ruined by greed.

This is the type of rubbish that gets trotted out as soon as form drops. Bella Nipotina the same age has basically been up since February and has continually been raced and backed up interstate long after she was going to be retired but no one wants to string up connections because she is winning.

Running in Sydney vs Melbourne is no real difference maker for Jenni as she still would have had three same amount of runs this prep and we were told from a long way out that the King Charles was going to be the main aim this prep

Such a poor take which fails to recognise that horses are individuals … no two are the same.
This why some trainers succeed and others fail - one size approach and assessment is a recipe for disaster.
PoJs campaign was driven by a money hungry owner who determined the races and then the jockey and absolutely wrecked an amazing horse.
Owners are the worst trainers.

Same thing happened to Incentivise

Mr Brightside had pretty much the same prep and no one is carrying on about his money hungry owners. Nuffies who go around trying to connect dots after the fact once a horse isn't winning a couple races are hilarious. Happens all the time

Mr Brightside didn’t go to Sydney and back up a week later in our best race.

No matter how many times you try to
spin it, it’s false to say the prep was the same. It isn’t supported by evidence.

For the folks playing at home, PoJ beat Via Sinstina, the world’s highest rated horse, by six lengths earlier this year. And beat Mr B over 1600m three starts ago.

It’s gone pear-shaped since - remarkably since the logical and responsible paths were not followed.

And yet here we are defending the indefensible.

The fact you still think the QE was a true reflection on ability...

it seemed to me, a pleb, as though PoJ racing style is an intense, all out balls to the wall catch me if you can energy sucking affair. comparing two different horses with different styles doesnt seem right?
the question should be did PoJ seem cooked after its last run and was the downside > the upside to run again so soon?

we know as punters that reducing downside risk is what its all about, so it seems crazy to risk the actual horses when you can just rest it and go again later on?

we will never know.

They found a way to beat her, wasn't exactly a magic trick either, it's the same way you beat most freewheeling front runners. They then tried to ride her differently to get a different result, she bled. She didn't bleed because of the way she was ridden or her racing pattern, that would be a ridiculous assertion to make.

She will always be remembered for absolutely killing them in the QE2 last year, one of the great wins. Most of us have laid it in to her owner but credit to him for retiring her, plenty of more money to be made from her by racing her but to his credit, he is going to take care of her and retire her.

Would guarantee Via Sistina felt that run post Cox Plate every bit as much if not more than Jenni yet everyone wanted her to back up in a Melbourne Cup.

The front runners vs off speed argument holds no weight for me. If the leader is running hard then the rest in behind also need to be pushed to their limits to run the time needed to win
