i'd try and work another team in to the deal and get a player that way

Screw borderline best 22 players who provide nothing more than placeholders or depth. I'd rather grab a second to go with their first and take a chance at the draft.

Kerr and Battle should be around early in the second round.

Ideally we trade [24 and Gibbs] for [13 and Adelaide 2017 1st]. Ontrade [2017 1st] for [Marchbank and Pickett].

Downgrade [5+55] for [8+22]

Trade Tuohy for [21] via a three way with GCS.

Take 8, 13, 21, 22, 42 to the draft and add Marchbank and Pickett (picks 4 and 6).

Least SOS is showing some 'Blue Steel'.

I think Gibbs will still get traded, once Adelaide get their heads out of their arses and make us a fair offer

Can't offer something they don't have...

None of their 'fair' players want to leave and are safe in long term deals...

They are stuck and have been told so by respective managers!

Barracked for Brissy as a kid (huge fan) and they've been into him all year. Just the kind of classy high impact player they need.

Ainsworth will still be there. Id be more than happy for him at 8, and 13 for Venables.

Agreed. I have a very similar thought process.

Maybe I worded that wrongly, I just get the vibe that they'll miss him more for his influence on the kids they're bringing through.
Totally agree with you - Tuohy is a very important paert of the defensive formation - younger kids look great for a few games but AFL takes it toll on young bodies- Weitering startwed AA in impact copped a stinger and then progressively declined in impact over the year- as one would expect, meanwhile older stronger bodies kept motoring on.

2 1st rounders for Gibbs would be a good result, but wouldn't trade the future one for Marchbank and Pickett.

Just throw either pick 21 or 22 at GWS, that should suffice.

If we were to lose Gibbs, you'd prefer someone who could immediately slot into the middle, a Brodie or Taranto, both of which are probably gone by pick 8.

the draft will not be able to replace gibbs in short term. their bodies simply aren't developed enough yet for 22 games full time in the midfield. sure they might spend a bit of time there but in the short term we really need to be looking at someone like barlow.

That is a bit rich Mal. Reckon he has a fair idea of the mix required to build a side. Okay to push youth, youth, youth and be dazzled by draft picks on BigFooty but we'd be coaching our own sides if it were that easy.

I dont see the point in retaining a player (who turns 28 next year) who is going home to a disgruntled partner struggling to raise a child in Melbourne and wants to be home for family support during a rebuild.

Keeping him makes zero sense. Its a potential win (for us) win (for Bryce and his partner) and win (for Adelaide) scenario.

Trading Bryce lets us (at a minimum) use 5 at the draft, and use 13 for the GWS boys.

We would be mad not to, and to retain him in these circumstances.

What's the hold up? Cut the Crows out of it and deal with Port Adelaide.

Pick 9 and Darcy Byrne-Jones for Bryce and pick 58.
to me port are the better fit for for gibbs anyway. the crows outside game is second only hawthorn. port have no midfielders that can hit targets apart from robbie gray

Really clutching at straws here, but here's a scenario I dreamed up...

If what we're hearing is accurate, Gibbs' request to go to Adelaide was based on family reasons. ie, it was more a request from his partner (completely understandable and her right to do so).
But what if Gibbs would rather not go???
Needs to keep his family happy, but secretly wants to stay...

So Gibbs goes to Carlton and says,

"put me on the trade table publicly, but if a deal can't get done, then I guess I'm stuck here (wink wink) ..."

Yep, Parish is quality and he looked cooked early on into the season. Huge ask for a midfield kid stepping into the 22 for too many games.

I think the trouble with trading with port is they have no cap space.
They wouldn't want to give wines a younger player up also dont think we have interest in hartlett either

I reckon Adelaide need to find a 3rd party to do this trade other wise he stays at carlton

I agree completely. Not only will he have to deal with all the supporters who have turned on him now, his home life wont be all that pleasant either, with a pissed off Mrs who doesn't want to be in Melbourne.
