Buckley can't coach

Is Blessed the Collingwood fan who rang up Finey last night and yelled that Mcguire should be shot for getting rid of Malthouse ? It was one hell of a rant :)

Should Gavin Brown Coach us in 2013? That is the only question left in my mind after last night.

One thing is for sure, we cannot continue with the standard we showed last night with no apparent game plan, no ability to shut down the Carlton small and big men, no reactionary strategy, no zest for success, and the emerging rumours of players not liking the coach.

Give it a rest. We get it you're disappointed. You've lost 2 out of 3 games and you're pretty much calling for Buckley's head. If he got the gig off the Mick who gave them their first flag in 20 years and built them into the powerhouse they have shown to be over the past few years don't expect him to be gone anytime soon.

I'd be furious of this plan Eddie put together if I was a pies fan. But it happened and what's done is done, it's going to take a hell of a lot longer than three rounds to show whether it was the right thing to do.

Collingwood's problem isn't their injuries, they certainly don't help but their real problem is the one that everyone has talked about since last year. That is how poor their ruck combo is. Jolly looks like he's wearing lead boots now and Wood is poor I mean last night he was out muscled by Gibbs despite having a 22kg and a 16cm advantage.

He has inherited a thin list and suffered injuries both before games and during two of the three games. And we have lost to two of the stronger teams from 2011.

Pies have definitely come back to the field but its probable that it would have happened anyway with Malthouse in charge and natural improvement from other teams. Malthouse for example has never coached a game with Lachie Keeffe as our only key defender. At this stage I cant see any Buckley connection, its more to do with injuries and the quality of our opponents.

The team will need time to gel and for its key players to get match fitness. And thats hard to do when you get more injuries every week.

The upside is that the thin list gets slightly less thin every week as players get called up to fill roles.

I picked it. Our thin list suddenly doesnt look so thin any more.

Great thread, Blessed!

I'm just going to go or the record here as saying that Bucks is doing a good job of proving me wrong.
I had my doubts about him, was quite vocal too though mostly just enjoying taking the piss.
Seems to have Pies Keeping on keeping on at the moment.

At least one person has the stones to admit they overreacted after 3 rounds, now where is the rest of bigfooty and the media general with the same admission?

Oh mate it was actually from last year that my misgivings were dated from. I actually thought it was too early to tell in the first three rounds, there were (are still?) injuries and they were still going through the motions of having a new coach.
Having said that I still thought that Bucks wouldn't work out as a coach and it appears right now that I was wrong.
And good on him for what it's worth.

Always said Collingwood's list was under rated. Buckley looks like he is doing a good job because he has a lot of good players doing a good job. Hard to really judge Bucklet as a coach but at least it is clear Malthouse was not the be all and end all getting a team of bums to a flag like some dills claimed.

When Mark Neeld was getting hammered by reactionary idiots in the media, others jumped to his defence and said, "He is only 9 games into his coaching career. How about we give him his 3 years before we make judgments about his competency as an AFL coach?" Quite rightly, people pointed out that Neeld inherited a mediocre list of players that hadn't been developed into top 8 side by Dean Bailey.

We should show the same patience before judging Buckley's coaching. He is only 10 games into his coaching career. How about we give him his 3 years before we make judgments about his competency as an AFL coach? He inherited a super list of players that were developed into a premiership side by Mick Malthouse.

Even with the injuries you've got, it's still one of the best lists in the league. Learn to take a compliment.
Facts are facts we haven't had a normal run of injuries, so the list is much depleted in quality.

Although on the plus side Buckley has shown faith in young Sinclair who has come on in leaps and bounds this year and the demise of Ball for the season has fast tracked the development of both Sidey and Beamsy

I wasn't one to write Bucks off after Round 1, and I won't be one to hail him as a great coach after Round 10.

He is showing great signs, whether it be having faith in debuting young players in pressure cooker matches (eg. Adelaide) or his tactical nous and playing players like Daisy in a run with role.

He deserves credits at the moment, but we'll see come the end of the year how well we have done in the circumstances.

One things for sure, I love that man. :thumbsu:

Hard to know whether Buckley is a good coach or that he has a good list. Either way, they're flag favourites, and to pie fans at this point in time, that's good enough.
Bucks will forever baited with this is Malthouses team and so on, The quicker the pies win this years flag and next years the better, and then cull the list and then it can be Bucks team.
Like what did all you think, a ultra professional who only knows how to win at sport and life, 75000 members, sponsors left right and centre, history, culture, The best assembled list. Only injury can ultimatley get us this year, but I think even that toll will not be enough, Pies will be premiers this year.

It has nothing to do with Buckley not being able to coach, there is no hurry, the season is long, lets see how things are going after round 11 and see if we are in the mix. We have some tough games early and yes would would love to win them all, but it's not about being on top now, it's about building up as the season goes along and I think both Collingwood and Geelong will be starting off slowly this season. Lets let the other teams think they are it and a bit while we are getting ready to knock them off when it counts.

Well we are sitting on top of the ladder, so Bucks coaching speaks for it's self. People shouldn't jump the gun over a few games.

How many people on here have ever coached at AFL level, or been on the board or been vigorously tested and re-tested for.... oh stuff it, he's been coachin for all of 5 minutes.
You Idiots.
