In the end, Buckley doesn't want to leave and even IF other teams would be interested, we'd be able to match offers anyway, so in the end, he's not going anywhere if we don't want him to. So there's no need to re-sign him yet.
Except for the issue of stability.
If the club doesnt show the confidence to extend him, how will that impact the playing group and their willingness to continue buying in to his game plan? Particular if the media catches on and then rumours start flying about another team wanting to offer him bug bucks? (Whether or not it happens, and expiring contract is open slather for media).
At what point would players give up on a coach if they dont think the club will keep him around?
Now i don't think this is a particularly big problem with Bucks and this group, but i think it does need to be taken into consideration.
