Buddy gets two!

HAWTHORN star Lance Franklin will miss the next two matches after failing to beat a charge of rough conduct at the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night.
The Hawks have not yet said if they will appeal the verdict.
Franklin will now be absent for Hawthorn's virtual elimination final against Essendon on Saturday afternoon and either the first week of the finals, if the Hawks make the eight, or round one next season.
Last year's Coleman Medallist was charged by the match review panel for his third-quarter hit on Richmond midfielder Ben Cousins at the MCG on Saturday – which knocked out the former Eagle – and was given a two week penalty, reduced to one week with an early plea, an offer the Hawks rejected.
Cousins didn't return to the field after the bump, which was graded as negligent conduct, medium impact and high contact, which totals 225 demerit points and a two-match ban.

Re: **** the afl

I empathise with the Hawthorn lot... Hayden Ballentyne got t weeks recently for an even lesser hit. You have to scratxh your head at what they've let pass through to the keeper this year and what they've decided to penalise.
Didn't Maxwell get off from smashing some young WC player at Subi early in the season ??

Re: Afl disgrace-time to go demetriou

Why didn't Buddy tackle? if he had of, wouldnt have been an issue, he made the wrong decision, bumped poorly, and has been rightfully punished. He should have tackled, he didnt, and he laid a poor bump (you should always get low to bump)

Tribunal Chairman directed the Panel telling them the bump was reasonable and his only option in the circumstances.....and they the Panel still found him guilty. With the Chairman's direction you'd think Buddy will get off on Appeal.

Re: Afl disgrace-time to go demetriou

If you want someone to blame, blame KB and the rest of the rules committee. The MRP and tribunal were only going by the rules that were set by KB and co. They might be like us and disagree with them, but they have to abide by them.

Re: **** the afl

Buddy got 2, very silly appeal from Hawthorn really.

If you don't appeal that, then what the hell do you appeal?

Why should he? He kept his arm/elbows in at all times, Cousins shit himself, fumbled and slightly ducked into it. Unless you officially outlaw the bump (as opposed to unofficially as it is now), then how the hell do you protect against that?

Re: **** the afl

meh the bump is fine, you just cant bump them in the head which i think is a great rule. learn to tackle buddy you big dope!

Re: **** the afl

This game is becoming far from a joke

the bump is fully gone now

**** THE AFL

I say leave out Hodge, Cyril, Brown, GIlham, Mitchell, Birchell, Osbourne, Sewell, Lewis and fill the team with youngins.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it AFL.

See a crowd with 80,000 drop to about 30,000

stupid ****ing dicks

This game will not get 80,000 even if Buddy got off.

Why should he have to tackle?
The bump was there to be taken and he took the opportunity.

To a majority of football supporters the bump was legitimate. The only problem is that the AFL are ruining the great game

The bump was a text book hip and shoulder. If you played footy anytime up until the 90's you expect at least 1 of these in every game played every week.

Re: **** the afl

the fact Cuzzy was hit head high, and almost unconscious warrants a suspension

letting Buddy free to play woulda sent the message that u can hip'n'shoulder a player head high, as long as the action appears legal... bad message

The bump is only legit if you dont make contact with the head. He showed no signs of laying a good bump, which is getting low.

Re: **** the afl

I originally thought the MRP got it right, it was worth a one week ban maybe two..

he ran at cousins to bump him, got him head high and concusses him, clear case of negligent medium impact contact. hawk fans shoudlnt have an issues with the MRP, these decisions have been made all year and there has been consistency with their punishments,

However, The tribunal set precedent this year by allowing Maxwell and campbell brown to get off, the instances are to similair to differentiate punishment. (I actually thought Maxwell's was worse) meaning buddy should have got off on appeal too.

The tribunal made a big f up this time IMO, they neeed to find consistency otherwise fans have a right to questin them..

Im Spewin buddy cant play this week, would have been a great spectacle with him in the goal square in a tight game...

I heard it as the Chairman said that the decision to bump was reasonable under the circumstances......which would suggest that it is still possible from his point of view that while the decision to bump was reasonable, the execution of the bump was not within the rules.

***Just saying thats the way I heard it, before I get accosted.

Ye thanks Einstein going by your logic why wasn't Maxwell suspended considering he broke a players jaw?

that is so stupid, at that pace and that situation he did the best he could...if it was front on, fair enough...this is a bullshit decision by a bunch of egotistical arse wipes...
