As a melbourne supporter there seems to be a very big chance that we will end up with John Butcher. But I have my concerns..I've seen him play and he honestly doesn't seem that agile when compared to a jack watts. He is very gangly.

I see Watts as an agile, 196cm half forward with fluid kicking action and good hands.

Butcher seems to be a better contested mark and sticky fingered power forward.

Who is better? or who would u prefer and why?

completely different players, and probably the perfect combo, you will have both so id be licking my lips with both of those boys and hopefully jurrah turns into a good player.

Watts is probably the better, but they'll both be elite footballers, plus, they'll be together in the red and blue for 12 odd years :thumbsu: The way i see them 2 is that they will be the perfect compliment to each other. Very similar set up to Roughead and Franklin.......except better :D

Watts will be the lead up CHF whilst Butcher will be the big power marking forward.

Jurrah/ Bate third tall. BTW loving the avatar:thumbsu:

Compare 99.5% of big men to Jack Watts, and they will look slow and unco.

Watts is a freak.

Butcher will be a superstar also.

So Butcher = Kosi and Watts = Roo?

Hopefully they both turn it on a lot more often than our boys do!

yehh, that's probably the best/closest analogy of a pair i can think of in the AFL..

Butch is still different to Kozi and Watts is different to Riewoldt..

still probably the closest example though..

FWIW, Butch is actually very very mobile.. injuries during the pre-season didn't help the fitness.. but when fit he's got a massive tank.

If the Eagles get a pp then the tiggers will miss out on both

/shrug

everyone's talking about ifs at the moment.

eagles already on 3 wins....and they play richmond twice more, melbourne once, freo once, north melbourne once.

who's to say richmond can't tank both games?? let alone the other 3 winnable games

We don't necessarily have to draft Butcher if we can. I like him but haven't seen him enough yet.
What I think we need is a power forward who is mobile enough to play up & down the Spine like Neitz could in his younger days.
If Butcher can do that sort of thing than yes. If not some other, maybe a Pitt, or Carlisle or someone?.

I think if Melbourne finish last they get pick 1 and 2.
So get Butcher and Scully.
So you will have Butcher and Watts

Providing West Coast dont get the PP too, I think we definatly take Scully....and maybe Butcher, but I'm not 100% sure he's the superstar he's pumped up to be. Then again, combine him and Watts, add 3 years...very attractive prospect.

2012 - year of the Demon :thumbsu:

Butcher, even though you will most likely have both.

Butcher takes awesome strong marks and kicks a lot of goals. What i saw of watts last year is that he leads and is like roo as someone else said. i see watts as a 60 goal a year and butch at 80.

Both fantastic, maybe better than buddy and roughie.;)
