Sorry mate have to give Max some reason for optimism!

Big win for the Nods - not at all surprised. Heath Black a lazy 6 and they couldn't fit him in the best???

Well done Maxy. We'll be back next year for another crack.

Les can we agree on one thing. Casey Fields makes EP seem like Etihad with the roof closed.

Both the ressies and the ones was decided by who could contain the opposition in the wind, not who played the best.

Monash had the best of the 1st half, but the game was decided by the last 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter, when OI kicked two quick goals.

Monash have the best crowd I've seen in my years in the VAFA. Never heard support like it.

Hopefully we play somewhere close to OI and Marc, maybe at Box Hill.

Fingers Crossed.

Agreed - well done to OI who handled the wind better on the day.
Great ground and facilities, but Qantas should look to test their new Boeing 767s in the Cranbourne East wind tunnel.
Had to be the strongest wing I've experienced in finals in 20 years.

Saturday or Sunday, Scribe? I spent both days at Sandringham and the wind was a lot worse on the Sunday. Difficult on Saturday, but seemed to be howling Sunday. That's footy.
UM

Welcome back, but please don't take this the wrong way, but I hope I don't need to speak to you next year.

A touch of rain and light winds forecast for Saturday. Which means it could still be a light gale at Casey.
Whilst I love the charge of Old Ivanhoe, I cannot disrespect the wonderful season of Mazenod.
I have to go with the Nodders. All the best to both sides.

Well, I'll be buttered on both sides! The Hoes withstood the might of Mazenod in a classic and tight Grannie to emerge as 2013 Premiers. Well done Hoes and congratulations Max. Enjoy the celebrations!

Great game of VAFA football.
Casey fields was magnificent, with very little if any wind.
Umpires were excellent

1st Quarter was played at break neck speed.
Hoes kicked the 1st 3 goals (Dela was threatening to repeat his 8 goal game from the previous week), then Mazenod got their game going, and bang, 7 goals in 12 minutes with Heath Black looking like he was going to destroy Hoes chances.
2nd quarter came with Ricky Jessop and A. Dela destroying the Mazenod backs. (4 goals to 0 in the 2nd)
Dean Heta went onto Heath Black, which saw the No. 13 have no further influence on the game.
3rd quarter saw Ricky J, again run amuk again. Mazenod appeared to kick their goals from flowing play, whilst the Hoes took their opportunities.
Hoes were 3 points down at the beginning of the last, but quickly turned that to a 12 point lead. A stalemate occurred for the next 5 minutes, then bang, bang, the scores were level.
Hoes missed some gettable chance, but with the back line holding up really well. A free kick in front of goal, saw the lead go out to 8 points.
The Big H's last quarter was to be seen to be believed.

Hoes win by 8 points.
Commiserations to Darren Toll (two's coach) and Chris Branigan (Under 19 coach) who's teams came up short in the GF.

Down to the Lodge for a quiet drink.

The boys won for Karen, a the greatest President - Peter Love.

Go Hoes

PS

Both teams should go OK next year in B Grade.

Where was Jayaweera?
Played mainly ressies this year.

Mazenod rested several players in the last game against PEGS and lost. jayaweera played that game.

Resting these players may have hurt Mazenod, as they appeared to run out of legs, especially on the large Casey Fields.

Great ground, and the conditions were perfect on Saturday.

Hoes luv Casey Fields. A perfect 3 from 3.

Congrats on Big H for winning the club B&F on the weekend.

Tired Max
