Among many of Cale's f#ckups, this one for me marked his papers "Get Rid At All Costs". At Casey when he was 2 metres from a contested ball and his opponent was 5 metres, he waited for the opposition to get the ball, and then laid a lame tackle. Five minutes later, there was a ball-up stoppage on Casey's half back line, and Morton casually walked back to his position 10 metres away with his back turned to the play. He had no consideration for how the opposition had set-up at the ball-up, and certainly wasn't going to get involved in a stoppage clearance.

These sort of things don't show up in any stats, but would drive a coach spare. It's a shame that the old days of Jeans shoving Dippa up against a locker are frowned upon by Occupational Health and Safety, because I'm sure that Neeld was tempted many a time.
