Calf Tightness to keep Johnson from Rd 1

Very confident he will come back fine, he may be old but he is one of the most durable players to have ever played the game. Has never played less then 21 games in a season since his rookie year

Much and all as I love to put crap on the Dogs and Johnno (poor man's Shannon Grant) that statistic is genuinely astounding, especially given he was drafted the year I almost certainly would have gone top 20 had I not decided to dedicate my life to letters.

I'll say this once and once only: Johnno of all the players I've seen to never taste the ultimate success deserves a flag the most. Given North probably won't win one this year, I'd be well chuffed if the Dogs did and I'd clap him round the MCG holding the cup up.

He doesnt look well the old boy and why has he suddenly got spaghetti arms??

Great cha, pion of the game and the dogs... but dogs fans with hall, murph, aker, hill do you really need another small/medium target? i think he's gone imo - he has played hard and gone hard his whole career - taken hits delivered hits - just think he wont get up this year. Still though just have to get him right for finals and put him near the goals. So wouldnt be concerned toO greATLY.

He isn't gone mate... he did average 21 touches and kick 37 goals last year, I wouldn't think that'd change too much this year with the Dogs adding Hall to the forward line. If anything he'll cop a lesser defender.

Didn't your team just trade for a guy who couldn't get a game in this apparently pathetic and useless team? Maybe you could explain the logic of that to me.

They probably saw something in him that your clubs awful development coaches and non-existent football department funding couldn't get out of him.

still a chance for collingwoods training run i round 1 . its amusing all the hype surrounding the dogs remember you guys finished .1% higher on percentage and the acheived the same result in the 09 finals , yet the dogs with ageing players and hardly no scope for natural improvement are considered by vitually all, to be the ones to beat. round 1 will be a rude shock for all believers and by round 11 talks of bring back terry wallace will be all the rage. jwas.

pies the only club to sack a back to back premiership coach.

Or we'll walk all over Collingwood in round 1, as will every team for the first 11 rounds, leaving Collingwood 0-11. They'll then sack Malthouse and appoint Buckley who loses the next 11, leaving Collingwood 0-22 for the season and Malthouse and Buckley jobless. Dean Laidley will take over in 2011 to try and right the sinking ship.

See you don't need to have a head injury to make baseless predictions, but I imagine in your case it helped.

Without wanting to sound biased I see this stuff as Bulldogs biggest risk. They have a number of older guys who are still making big contributions. For their sake you hope they all get another season of meaningful input but Jonno Aker Hall and Eagleton are all in this catagory. The end often comes quickly

Jonnos been a great champ but recurring calf achilles injuries in a 33 yo are not good

Easily in the WB top 22. Would be one of the first picked.

The problem the Doggies may have as the season progresses is that their guns in Aker, Bazza, and Johnno are all 33-34 y.o. and things like calf injuries take much longer to recover from.

Lenny Hayes has carried one for a couple of months and he is 30. he is also one of the fittest players at the club.

Doggies may lose one or more of these three great players over the course of a long season.

If they can keep them on the park, may be a great year, two or more for extended periods on the sidelines and it could be not as good.

THIS is the moment Brad Johnson convinced the Western Bulldogs he was ready to play in Round 1.

After being written off last week, the Dogs captain now looks set to play his 350th game against Collingwood at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Wispy of Windy Hill posts virtually the same thing in the comments section of every HUN footy story. He’s most likely a supporter of another team who’s below average intelligence, and who thinks it’s clever to pretend to be a little dumber than he actually is time after time after time in the view to making Essendon supporters seem stupid. Really clever stuff.

I wouldn't be upset if they took an underdone player into round 1..

That's what you thought in Round One, 2006 when an "underdone" Johnno was a last minute inclusion against the Pies after struggling with an ankle injury for the previous fortnight. He played very well that day... kicked 3 or 4 goals. I know it's four years later, but I guarantee that Malthouse will still be paying him respect. Write him off at your peril.
