Calling WA Colts Watchers

What I was thinking was that we need to co ordinate information from people who watch WAFL - particularly colts often.

We an supply weekly updates on form and development of likely candidates for the robust discussion that will ensue.

We get lots of info about TAC cup and those of us in WA appreciate it so this would help round out everyones knowledge.

So those who want to be in get in touch and we will make a contribution.

It's not often I'd take up a suggestion from an Eagles supporter but if i get an opportunity to do so I will go down and watch South Freo colts. They have a number of young blokes to watch out for. Toby and Luke Bairstow, Daniel and Matthew Michael and Cameron Jetta to name a few.

Was down at East Freo oval yesterday morning, only got there for the second colts game which was Claremonts weaker side vs EF's stronger side... overall Cl defeated EF by approx 23 goals to 3 goals

They're not colts age anymore...

At East Perth, watch out for Luke Sampey. Will dominate CHF and has bulked up considerably over the off season. Did pre-season with the league side aswell along with Aaron Sweet.

Aaron Sweet would be another to look out for. Fleet footed midfielder with some good skills.

Daniel Murray, tall lumbering ruckman come forward or forward come ruckman but either way he might be looked at for state representation this year after he represented the 16's last year.

Tom Howlett at FF, has probably the safest hands in the colts competition and will be looking to becoming a dominate forward this year for the colts.

But Luke Sampey is the one to look out for. Huge unit and will probably play league later this year.

Claremonts weaker colts side defeated East Freo's stronger colts side? Are you serious?

I heard that it was a 6 quarter game and that EF had a number of colts guys playing in ressies and league but that score is a thrashing.

Thanks for jumping on board guys.

Last season was my first on BF and it was difficult at times to get a picture of WA kids. I got to see colts every week but the more posters out there watching the better.

I think that our friends in other states would also appreciate the input.

Colts Scratch Match on this Thursday 8/3/07 between South Freo & Swan Districts 6.30 pm @ Fremantle Oval. I will be watching the game & will post details. Will be interesting as I know that South Freo have a few young & unknown players that will be having a crack.

Not sure what was going on down there... but Cl had a strong team which killed EF, then the weaker Cl side continued in the same fashion, i got told EF's weaker side played first, then supposedly stronger side played second

EF colts probably did have a few playing ressies and league i.e Chris Masten

Any stand outs?

Sampey's second half of the season (after Nationals) last year was superb. If he has bulked up and kept on improving, I agree that he will be much sought after. Sweet was one of the last dropped from the state squad last year but can someone clarify of he is eligible for selection this year. I thought he was a 1988 born.

Dan Murray is gonna be something - too young for draft this year but a definite candidate for state team.

Who are the standouts from Claremont. To flog an EF side like that must mean they have got some players. They had 7 or 8 drafted last year. Who heads up their next crop?

Not so much stand outs from the weekend... but players to watch this season would have to be... Tom Swift, Matt DeBeor, Jake Murphy, Dylan Ross, Cale Morton, Warren Benjamin, Henry Roberts, Josh Annear

Watched the League game and Chris Masten had a very solid game to go along with a very average hair style, ran hard and made really good positioning, kicking is not bad but is not very damaging. Rhys Palmer was also decent looks like he is an alright size as well.

In the colts it was a flogging and Tom Willet captained the side is a real possible 18s member. Tom Swift is a complete gun about 188cm great pace and great skills and gets alot of the footy watch out for him this year.

For those interested our game v Claremont is at 9am this week at Claremont Oval. Bit of a grudge match after last years games between us two. Should be a corker.

Sampey only played the last half against Perth last week and will be one to look out for come draft day next year.

Watched the scratchie between South Freo & Swan Districts. Swans won by 13 points. First game for Souths, Swans had already played two matches. Good signs for Souths even though they lost. Damien Roe, son of former South Freo league player Willie Roe, is all class & knows how to get through the packs, also has good pace & reads the play well. Other Souths players that impressed were Sgherza, a very smart thinking half forward with height & football smarts, Ricciardello, played full back all game, didn't give the full forwards an inch, had 5 or 6 full forwards change on him including Nicholas Naitanui, kept them scoreless except for one who kicked 2 goals on him in the last quarter, which were both great deliveries into the forward line by the Swans. He also has pace, tall & has a great kick & good set off hands.Reads the play very well.Don't know any of the Swan District players, but a quite a few showed impressive signs. Swans have 3 or 4 players that have exceptional pace and good evasive skills. Looking forward to the season.

Interesting but Grae Grant from Perth has left WA and is going to play for Mt Gravatt in AFLQ.

Thats very interesting ... i knew he didnt last very long into the preseason training during December ... wonder what hes doing in Mt Gravatt though??

Michael Vande Klashorst has also left Perth.

Chris Macguire from Swan Districts has signed to play with Bunbury F.C.

Do you have anymore information about Tom, Lingsface?
Is he available to be drafted this year?

No he isnt unfortunatley...born in July.

He finds alot of the footy, got 41 + 45 touches against Vic Metro and Country in the u16s and won best WA player.

yes he is one to watch out for has awesome mix of spped and endurance and has very strong legs played a game of colts last year and was named in the best still playing psa football this year along with morton. But will play games in the early rounds, byes and end of season.
