If he doesn't get a trade maybe he will quit footy citing mental illness/depression then we can pick him up for nix next year. Works for some...

You mean for nix in 2018. If he gets through the draft to where your pick is.

No, six months after "retiring" he just says that he can't deal with footy unless he is playing back home and that he needs the game to help him recover. GWS deny the trade and look like heartless pricks to the world (and everything else that goes along with that which the AFL wouldn't allow) or a token trade is made to seal the deal.

It's not going to happen nor would I want it to occur that way but it's not without precedent.

Hahaha yep i can just picture it.

Cam "I hate it i hate it i hate it, get me out of here i wanna go home"
Manager "Theyve offered a 2 year extension"
Cam "Noooooo i cant i cant, but i must. Sign it so that i will be in this jail forever"

but you guys have this whole holier than thou bullshit going in so will let it be.

No. You have been nothing but pigheaded asking for proof when anyone says something and then spouting your own brand of unfounded crap in return.

You asked for proof for something that was clearly apparent and then when the proof is produced you still post smugly.

Seriously, Gubby is that you?

You know that the league has bent over and given GWS too many picks when they consider a late first rounder a packet of chips. When you finally step up and play big boy footy and make finals, you'll realize late first rounders aren't a dime a dozen.

They give first rounders out to every team every year. Can't be that valuable! :p

No he didn;t say that at all, he said he loves all the boys. Why would he love a club that wont even let him home on the weekend to visit his family and friends, when all the Melb based players get to go home.

You read the article wrong. The Giants don't stop him going home. He makes the choice not to go home because it's too far for poor old cam.

Still wouldn't be able to pick him up for two years but good luck with that idea

Yeah true but the idea of 'retiring' and then just signing for a new club 6 months later effectively as a free agent doesn't work anymore cause the Giants would still have to trade him like the demons did. I think it was Mal Michael that can be thanked for that loophole no longer being exploited

far out some people are getting way way way to wound up about this. Its been stated many times in the last 106 page, Cam wants to come back to Freo, he is contracted and it is up to Freo to come up with a deal that suits GWS. That's the only facts there are at this stage so everyone just calm down and stop having a pissing contest about whos better than who.

What I want to know is how the GWS fans are going to treat Sunshine next year when he's playing for them.

Oh wait....

If he was truly homesick he could leave whenever he wanted. Leave, retire, head back to WA and hang out with his family every day.

But that isn't what he wants. What he wants is to keep all his perks in the AFL (the league he agreed to be drafted into by any club) and pick up a big pay rise to boot, to play for his favourite team. He agreed to play for whatever team drafted him, he then extended that deal. GWS should feel no pressure to trade him just because Colin Young is a master of orchestrating bullshit PR.
That's bullshit. Why can't he be homesick AND want to play football? It's not like any of us have been sent across the country with no say in where we go to do what we're good at, so it's easy for us to sit here and act like heroes about it. However, I find it easy to see where he is coming from. Perth is a long way away from Sydney and GWS isn't coming here regularly. It doesn't sound like they've done much to allow him to spend some extra time at home either.

It's incumbent on Freo to come up with a fair trade, however GWS has to weigh up having a disinterested player on their books and losing him for SFA in a few years. My gut is they'll end up trading him.

He signed a contract and has TWO years to go.

Either Fremantle offer something GWS see as a win, then they can trade. If not, why should they have to?

I'm sick of this homesick bullshit. If you are a person that can't be away from home, find a different career. It is a national league. There's plenty of jobs that don't require you to move from you home state, but AFL isn't one of them.

Onus is 100% on Fremantle to offer something that GWS can't say no to. Otherwise he fulfills his contract getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tough gig hey.

He will be cheered, especially when he kicks a bag against Dockers :)

Seriously you Docker fans need to gain some perspective.

At least if you were honest and said he wants to triple his wage and the Dockers want some chance at a flag before falling off the Premiership cliff we would respect you.

You're just sooking over danger.

Funny how he wasn't homesick when he signed his extension but it kicked in when he got a $3,500,000 contract waived in front of him.

GWS - the kidnap club.

Shitty way to build a sustainable culture IMO.

Lambert leaving will hurt.
He chose to become a professional footballer in a national league with a draft. He, with his management, chose to sign a two year contract extension. In what way has he been kidnapped by GWS?

If he didn't want to leave home he could've continued his plumbing apprenticeship.
