News Cam McCarthy to the Pies?

Under the current system it is very hard to get access to talent. Being able to work with perceived "difficult" talent is actually one of the few advantages you can take as a club to get closer to a premiership. If we can't be better than other clubs in player support and development then we arent the best club and wont win the flag.

Besides, how many of us have been listless at one workplace and changed jobs or role to really flourish? There are so many examples of such players as well.

I'm curious where people see McCarthy fit within our forward structure?

I feel like we have a few players at his size that play key position in Mihocek, De Goey and Kelly. Is he even a need?

Perhaps one benefit would be to release De Goey to midfield, but do we want that?

I do see McCarthy as a key foward not third tall. One inch in height doesn't change that when you consider playing style and qualities.

Go on, tell us one of your "so many examples" of a bloke who's failed at two clubs and then goes and "flourishes" at his third. I can't wait....

He didn’t fail at GWS, wanted to return to WA, not the first player to want to go back home. Freo is arguable, he had some medical issues, and no players flourish under Lyon.. look at Neale, gone up another level since he left. Imagine being a forward under Lyon.

No, you got me! Can I put a few filters on the answers though....like Leroy HAD played 180 odd games before he came to Collingwood and was a hail mary pick when most thought his career was over. He never displayed any lack of effort issues at either North or Freo either!

Not sure how he failed at GWS? Kicked 35 goals as a second year player. The fact he sat out the next season to force a trade is a seperate issue really, but I’d say his time at GWS was relatively successful.

He plays like a third tall, a flanker, not a key, and Kelly in time will play like a key forward. On talent alone one could say yes, but there is more to it than that. The way he left gws it would be a no, but also did not realise a bout the epilepsy which would have a huge impact on his mental and physical well-being.
Only as a rookie and a preseason showing dedication would l think it be worth it. Still leaning to a no on this

He seems like a bit of a boob-head.
Has a lot of talent, but he looks really lacklustre at times during games.
Rookie list at best. If it doesn’t work out after a year or two... adios amigo.

If Hine had got Riccardi we wouldn’t be having walker and McCarthy discussions 🤣. beggars can’t be choosers!

We all wanted him.
