If we swapped Fritsch for Rayner next season, we'd be bottom 4.
I had already conceded earlier based on this year I had him too high at pick 9. He has had a patchy finals series but not without credit. There is a long way to go in his career. I still believe he can be a big impact player in big games but today is a reasonably serious setback to that assessment.

Fritsch can play his role but he has built his reputation on easy receives. He is not a high level player, just a good finisher if the midfield is well on top.

You get the sense that alot of people fall in love with what Rayner could be and ignore the type of player he is now.
Alot of the players in the Rayner mold, explosive, big bodied, hits the scoreboard get this type of favourable perception from fans.
For Essendon, Archie Perkins is that type of player. Strong in the contest, has flashes of brilliance, athletic but does not put it together on a consistent basis. Granted he is only in his 3rd season but he is one example.

Rayner is literally invisible most weeks and barring his first season every year the club he’s been at has made finals. Has had a way better environment than Watts to develop in and has been worse imo

Nah there is no way in hell Rayner comes close to Watts.
Watt's was one of the most hyped number 1s in history.
