Dude, admit it. I caught you out. You tried to blabber some stats and I caught you out. Own the mistake. Rayner has attended 52 more cba's and he averages 0.1 more disposals. That's embarrassing mate. Simply embarrassing.

And why would Spargo be playing in the middle, he's a forward pocket specialist...

Would love to see you play a dying scene in a movie Dan. You wouldn’t go quietly, that is for sure.

Caught me out. 😂😂😂

Spargo plays on back pockets, the lowest paid people in the AFL. If Rayner is playing some midfield he is playing against a certain category of players called MIDFIELDERS. You know, the ones who get all the coin and win all the medals. Sort of like comparing the results of a player who plays on Rivers against the results of a player who plays on Petracca or Oliver.

You will work it out one day young Dan. 😁

wtf are u on about? Mids don't play on ANYONE!

Spargo has someone on him, Rayner doesn't. Hopeless logic

So Rayner with nobody playing on him is getting over 60% more contested possessions than Spargo who has someone on him….

You’re brilliant Dan. 😂
Dude, you rate Rayner. The joke will always be on you. And you claimed Rayner's 14.3 disposals as a stat win over Spargo's 14.2 disregarding the fact that Rayner plays midfield. how embarrassing for you. Not a good moment.

Rayner was set to spend a lot more time in the midfield last year then did his knee. This year he got a full preseason and is finally getting the chance to spend time in the middle. Before this, he only got a small handful of opportunities to play around stoppages or even up the ground.

Not only is he back after missing a year, but he's back playing a new role and being eased into it. This week was case in point - he was given a bigger opportunity to attend centre bounces. (13 compared to 2 the week before). That was obviously by design given he's catching up on lost time.

He's not the kind of player you can judge on his bed of work thus far, but a player who will get better and better each year with a very high ceiling. How good can he get? Impossible to say.

You rate Cryin Miers above Rayner….so you won’t be laughing at anyone champ.

Well they
I think many people on here like to only judge his playing/athletic ability too much (which is fair mind you) and not focus on the outside factors of the club, in regards to the off-field culture and mindset of our players/coaches.

Given where our club was placed in 2016/2017 (which wasn't very pleasant mind you), I think the club just needed to find players (from drafting & trading) that were positive about moving up to QLD in the first place, and help set a much more positive mindset and culture, not just on-field but off-field as well.

Is he the number 1 player in the 2017 draft at this current time, of course he isn't and is probably around the 15 - 30 pick (if we had the chance to redo it now) and is also probably behind Bailey & Starcevich from our later selections tbh, in terms of playing ability.

But I think the club decided to select Rayner over Bradshaw/Dow/LDU/etc in that draft (and got it right IMO) because he is a very positive person in life and seemed like the perfect person to help mend a culture-fractured club and make it a much more positive one for all players/coaches involved (with the help of Fages/Nobes/etc mind you).

Overall, Hopefully Rayner can continue to improve in his performances this season as well from missing 12 months from that ACL and continue to play his role well for us in seasons to come.
clearly got it wrong

Blind Freddy could see AB was the perfect guy to help culture/standards
His full of positive energy to.
The got seduced by the next dusty.
I rate Rayner still see him being a top 40 player in the league.
But the rubbish picking him for standards over brayshaw which you agree with is pie in the sky
Brayshaw sets the standard at training, holds babies visits hospitals and helps the elderly afterwards then on game day he tears the oppo a new one!

I think the thing we cannot know is Brisbane’s considerations regarding potential to leave after 2-4 seasons. Where Brayshaw has strong family connections to Perth, making him more attractive to Fremantle, this probably wasn’t the case for flight risk shy Brisbane.

Brisbane rightly prioritised players who were lower flight risk and out of that group they took what they deemed their best player. Brayshaw probably wasn’t in that group.

I think he should of been.
Everything he has shown says wherever he went he would embrace not the sort of bloke that would leave a challenge for an easier path.
Like serong

I don't rate Miers. But I rate him more than Rayner and Miers has better averages in most stats to this date of his career.

This just goes to show just how you rate Rayner, based on nothing.

Just let it be known then. You rate Miers over Rayner. I rate Rayner over Miers. 😁

Health permitting his ceiling is certainly very high.

yeah. from what they've done so far in their careers. that can't really be disputed as Rayner has done SFA

I understand why people have doubts on Rayner. But have you watched Miers play in the last 3 years or asked a Geelong fan about him? The man can't kick 45 metres.

The thing is, Rayner is a very likeable person by his teammates and fans so he gets a good ride. But, he’s nowhere near delivered on expectation. To be fair he should have been dropped more than once during his career but he has been given an extremely good ride by the coaches. I still hold out hope he can be that Martin “style”of player, dominate the centre bounces then go sit in the square and snag 3. The big problem is he’s struggled in a good team, things only get worse once the team gets worse, and Brisbane aren’t getting any younger.

Was instrumental in our win tonight. Joe's injury meant he had to play as a psuedo key forward and finished with 3 goals, 6 score involvements and 16 pressure acts. Great to see.

Quality opposition and he was a key cog, he's good overhead and ground level, once he gets more confidence in his body and a bigger tank, he'll be a top 10 league player, neither spargo or Miers mark overhead, neither has the big body to break packs, spargo is a good pressure fwd and Miers has played his last game for Geelong

Did very little today Rayner. I was shocked, I tell you, shocked to see danster’s pick 30 in the 2017 draft kicked 3.2 with a poster. 😂

On another note, anyone seen danster168 ? 😱

He probably actually watched Gryan Miers play yesterday and decided to log off permanently.

Building nicely - his impact goes beyond the stats sheet. Hoping he can string together some more games like the last 2.
