GWS are playing in a PF tomorrow night and you are still obsessing about this guyYou cant be that stupid.

That deserved a gif.You weren't quoted when you posted the gif, what's your excuse there?
He didnt ever say that until after the preseason when he went home. You could have traded him or delisted him when he said he wasn't playing for the giants again. He said he didn't want to play for GWS and there was an offer there. You dug in because you didn't want to look like idiots again after the Boyd fiasco. You did anyway because you rejected an offer knowing he wouldn't be playing in 2016 because you thought you could get more for him. In hindsight that deal would have been way over his value, thank God you were too stubborn to take it!
He won't be forced to sit out again, you're right. He'll be traded for a bag of chips, not because he's had a year out or question marks over his ability to live the afl life, but because if your club digs in again you'll look like total ******s. The aflpa would probably also get pretty atrophy about it.
The coach was in the media saying cam loves GWS when he made it clear he wanted out.
Shit even a few weeks ago someone from the club was saying that they hope cam stays even if it's only a 1% chance. What's the point of making that noise in the media unless you're trying to pressure him to stay/stay longer?

So you're saying forcing a player to sit out 1-2 years rather than trade them ISNT dickhead behaviour?
If you think he did say that, why did he come back to Sydney for the start of pre-season?

Where did Cam say he wasn't playing for the Giants again prior to the completion of last year's trade period?

Can see GWS wanting a low 1st, can see Freo offering a 3rd.
Mediation may settle it on 2017 2nd. End result GWS have banked a pick for a few years for maybe a 10 pick drop. Not so bad.
Then onto the next 7 gamer dictating terms in Marchbank.
He didnt ever say that until after the preseason when he went home.
Rest of your post is just
You think the club wouldn't have known something was up? He said send me to freo and they just said lol no and they had no idea he wasn't struggling mentally? They'd have to be pretty daft for that to happen.
For preseason he probably resigned himself to being at the giants another year, rocked up in an attempt to keep going since had had no choice. Clearly he couldn't cope since he dropped out.
yeah, its a bit like a playboy who obsesses over the only person who doesn't want him.It might not be a huge drop in value but it's not a good look from a player management perspective. He's been living in Perth all year and they're still in the media talking about their chances of keeping him and how much they want him.
Anywy GWS are not a 'normal' club, if they want to have all these concessions and all the best kids in the country they've got to accept some will leave. Strangely enough they've been pretty nice about trading most of them, especially to their old mate silvagni at Carlton. For some reason not with cam.
Im saying he came back to play this year.So what you're saying is the club can't manage their players and didn't have any idea he was struggling?
And anyway saying plz trad me is kind of the polite way of saying you don't want to be there.
Except that's not what you claimed. "He said he didn't want to play for GWS and there was an offer there." That's your unambiguous claim. If you're choosing to back away from it, that's fine - I don't believe there's any evidence for that either. Yep, he wanted to be traded but there was no indication he was going to sit out a year.
No disagreement there.
Dude you have it all wrong.
This wasnt a win for GWS. It has backfired big time. They have cost themselves and I 100% guarentee you if they had their time again they would take the deal. It was actually Cam that taught GWS a lesson. He warned them he would not play if they didnt trade him, and he didnt.
He was had a year off, at full pay, and will get to Freo this year for peanuts.
Every kid looking for a trade out of GWS will feel more confident now that GWS will let them leave based on what happened with Cam.
Im saying he came back to play this year.
He sat himself out during pre-season.
This has all been hashed out over the many pages in this thread and im done with it
I know youre bored this spring so read through it. Its interesting, funny and sad. A true epic.
Done with his thread till after finals.

CAMERON McCarthy has pledged to leave western Sydney as soon as the 2016 season ends — but is adamant he will play his heart out next year.
“One GWS official told me yesterday that it didn’t matter what Fremantle gave up, the (Tom) Boyd deal hurt them and they couldn’t let another player leave.
“He is a required player and Leon has come out and said he’s a star. He says Cam is in their starting 22 so if they don’t play him it won’t look good for them.
“It would look really bad, so he loves playing footy. He just doesn’t want to play footy in Sydney."
Everybody lost, not just GWS. McCarthy misses a whole year of AFL in a career of just 10 years, that's a big chunk. It will cost him future earnings (not worth as much as he would be had he played) plus experience. It wouldn't have calmed his mental demons at all and Freo still had nothing and will be getting a less experienced player than they would otherwise have got.
Nobody wins. The only difference is that had GWS done the trade, they would be put in this place repeatedly every year. At least now GWS players will think hard about signing contract extensions.
The biggest failure here was McCarthy's player manager, you'd assume he's been sacked. I'm tipping he told McCarthy to sign the extension knowing he wasn't entirely happy, but probably advised the kid that GWS would just 'let him go' if he wanted to anyway. He's done serious damage to his client's career and life.
He didn't have much choice. It was either that or sit out. Sitting out for a year is almost unthinkable.I don't agree with how GWS handled the situation, but I don't think the bolded is correct.

GWS wanted badly to be seen as 'tough' last year. They felt they had no choice. It soured a couple of other trades that they were willing to do: the Tomlinson to Carlton trade comes to mind.Everybody lost, not just GWS.
